I have been a Costco member for almost 5 years and have always loved Costco. However, today (June 14, 2023 around 5:00 pm) something shocking and outrageous happened at the Costco Katy store. Can't believe something like this happened at Costco! My friend and I went shopping at Costco this afternoon. When checking out at the self-service counter, my friend found that he forgot to bring his membership card. She checked out. Suddenly, a lady in a red Costco vest appeared and sternly claimed that our actions violated Costco's new terms and conditions. I explained the situation to her and showed her my membership card with my picture on it, but she insisted that my friend show her own membership card. So, the friend handed over the driver's license and asked the lady to check the membership information in the Costco system. This lady not only used my friend's driver's license to find someone, but also withheld my membership card and refused to return it! Meanwhile, we waited a long time at the self-service counter. When the young lady came back, she said that she couldn't find my friend's membership information and would not let us continue to check out. I'm really confused. Even though my friend doesn't have her loyalty card, does that mean I can't shop with my loyalty card? Does Costco have a policy that prohibits members from making multiple purchases on the same day? The key issue here is the lady's expression and attitude. Not only is she wasting our time, she is making Costco employees and other customers treat us like criminals! I am angry. Later, a male staff member came over and explained the lady's behavior and let us go to checkout. After checking out, my friend and I went to the membership center to print her temporary membership card as proof of her membership. We showed it to the lady and asked her to apologize for her rude attitude and behavior. However, she didn't apologize and just walked away as if we were wrong. Then a supervisor came over and continued to defend her actions, explaining that it was her job... I understood and supported her job, so I offered to explain the situation and showed her my membership card and my friend's driver's license . But what bothered me was her attitude towards us. I just wish she would apologize for her rude behavior, but I got none! In the end, I had to ask the supervisor for the lady's full name. Her full name is Vanessa Mendoza (this is a note from my supervisor) to let everyone know about my unfortunate experience and hopefully prevent similar situations from happening. I also hope that Costco will take this matter seriously and ensure that such employees do not tarnish Costco's good image in the minds...
Read moreI have shopped at this store for many, many years. But what happened to me yesterday on 11/14 is what led me to write this review. When my daughter and I finished checking out, we headed to those door receipt checkers and once it was our turn, the guy looked over our receipt multiple and I mean multiple times, then stated that an item was missing. Keep in mind: he was Asian, we are black Hispanics, just keep that in mind. My daughter then looked over the receipt WITH him and he checked everything off the list, everything was there and correct! We had only 11 items BULK SIZED so not even hard to miss anything! But he still continued to call his manager on us and tell him something was missing, even after my daughter checked over the receipt with him! I argued like crazy with that employee because we honestly felt like we were being discriminated!! We felt that way because when we stood aside waiting for the manager to complain and tell him what happened, we watched the employee check others receipts after us (some with SO MANY items) and not even DOUBLE LOOK at their receipts as close as he did for us and let them go out extremely quick!! That is why we felt as if we were being discriminated against!! This isn't the first time we have felt like this at this location because other incidents have happened. But in this case, this was rude, horrific, and extremely disrespectful.
Another thing was we headed to the water aisle and noticed a long line of people... waiting for water!!! It was very annoying because why weren't any employees keeping up with bringing out water pallets?? Then they brought out only ONE pallet!! And not only that, but once a pallet was brought out, people started grabbing up to about 6/7 packs of water!!! Unbelievable!! There should definitely be a limit on water (and other very essential items) because in a time like this, during covid, there definitely should be a limit!!! It was unfair for those who were waiting. Because we all want water too!!
We are not the types to complain or write reviews AT ALL, but in these cases, it just had to be done. Very upsetting!
If anybody has corporate's number, please provide because they definitely need to hear...
Read moreI have been loyal Costco customer for eight years. But here, this Costco, I met the rudest and most unreasonable store manager of all time. Here is what happened. Every week, I like to buy lots of groceries and stuffs from Costco, I also have a habit of retaining all receipts from Costco. So at Q3 of the year, I can review all expenses and plan for the next year, So this year in September, while doing the reviewing, i found on one receipt in April that had a mistake on it. I was charged twice on the same item but I actually only got one. So I checked Costco’s policy and it says the customer can go back to the store and the Costco team will be happy to assist. So I took the receipt to the store, explained what happend and asked for refund. But the manager said “once you are out of the store, if you call immediately, you can get the refund. there is no way we can tell if you bought one or two after five months.” So I told him I did the expense review and found this mistake, at the time of April, I didn’t check and I wouldn’t know. But the manager kept on repeating the same words that if you were just out of the store , we could refund. So I asked him to show me where in the costco handbook says this policy. He refused to provide. I told him I wouldn’t lie on this as he can check my Costco’s shopping history and see how many things I bought from Costco every year. He kept on saying” I didn’t say you were lying”. But at the same time he refused to check my receipt, refused to check my shopping history, refused to do nothing. Just stood there and hoped I could just walk away. The whole time, his attitude was terrible, typical passive-aggressive, giving the customer the feeling that this was the customer’s fault certainly not his or Costco’s. Ok, I can swallow this Costco’s fault as it’s only 20 dollars. But I have to leave this review and warn people to check their recipets carefully upon leaving Costco because you may get charged more than you actually get and some rude manager refuse and has an attitude of doing anything about it! Shame on Costco to make the customer to swallow Costco’s mistake. And shame on Costco to tolerate staff to be such rude to...
