Where do I begin??? We were in Kauai for 10 days....and this excursion was the HIGHLIGHT of our whole trip!
Seriously a 'Bucket List" experience!
We went to Kauai to specifically kayak this coast line.
Let me begin with this was my 50th Birthday trip...yep I'm old..lol... and I have NEVER ever sea kayaked before! yet we wanted to have the most fun.
We could not have picked a better company to work with. The booking agent Ivan was extremely personal and made us feel like we actually mattered. His main focus was that we got the day we wanted. He contacted us a few days before (to confirm) and then again the day before for tide reports (this can affect your trip!)
Loved all the personal attention we were given.
On the day of, we were paired with Annie&Austin 'The A Team" for our excursion, and could NOT have been assigned to better pairing. Unfortunately Austin was unable to join us for the whole trip due to a couple who had a change of heart, but he joined us later on for the final beaching of our Kayaks & was so invested that we had a great time. Once we were back, he listened to all our stories and was truly excited that we had a great time!
Annie...Where do I begin? She was the MOST positive, engaging, charismatic host. She truly had our best interest at heart. She was encouraging and compassionate, however she also let us know if we needed to be paired with others, she would over-ride our 'plan' but since we all worked well together, everyone just had the BEST DAY EVER!! We were told our route and even though we followed her, she kept looking back to make sure all her ducklings were following as directed. Annie not only cared that we had an enjoyable experience, she also educated us with the history of the island and the different parts of the coastline.
Annie gave us ample time to stop, rest and take pictures. She also took several images that she shared with us at the end of our adventure! Lunch was provided and I am the high maintenance person.. I am DF/GF yet they made sure I had a lunch that would sustain me to the end of our journey. Also, what we brought in, we brought out..and then some.. Keeping the beaches clean was the focus. I loved that!
The pièce de résistance was the cave exploration! We paddled to the open celling cave and embraced this magical experience. At first the waters were calm and inviting. As we entered one kayak at a time, the waters remained calm. Once we were all in.. the ocean gave us a show!! Truly MAGICAL! Wow!! it was awesome!
The conditions have to be just right to be able to enjoy this. Luckily..we had perfect conditions all day long!
The whole experience was super positive and I would DEFINITELY encourage anyone looking to kayak along the Napali Coast to use this excursion company.
We will defiantly do this again WHEN we...
Read moreIt's been two weeks since I went on this kayak trip with my dad. I can honestly say that I grin ear to ear every time I think of it, which is every single day. It was a bucket list item that I've dreamt of for the past decade, and was uncertain if I'd be able to physically withstand the long trip due to a bum shoulder. I knew I'd never forgive myself for not trying, and fortunately have a father who loves kayaking as much as I do.
When our guides, Annie and Iggy asked for volunteers to ride with him, he and I obliged. I felt guilty, knowing we'd have an easier journey than those paddling with their partner. Annie paddled with my dad, taking pictures of everyone and regaling us with her stories and her passion for the islands and their people. I rode with Iggy, who was equally as amazing. I mentioned that I loved wave surfing in whitewater and the man went into beast mode paddling as hard as he could to help us catch some good waves! He also had a hundred stories about the islands, his travels, and was truly a fountain of knowledge.
Annie promised us, "rainbows and mermaids and dolphins". Sure enough, we started our day with multiple rainbows and a pod of dolphins. We ended the day with more dolphins! My only moment of disappointment in this trip was seeing the beach of Polihale- I would've loved to stay out even longer. The pictures you'll see of the Na Pali coast don't do it justice, and it truly is a "gift" to experience the sight.
I was honestly prepared to suffer physically from this 17 mile kayak trip, but we had perfect conditions and riding with a guide probably prevented a lot of of it. Honestly, I was barely sore the next day and completely fine after that. Not a day goes by that I don't wish I could be paddling along this coast every day. To the owners and employees of NaPali Kayak Tours -and especially to Annie and Iggy- thank you all so much for one of the best...
Read moreAn awesome adventure! Napali Kayaking did an amazing job - our guide Brian was fantastic. Another kayaking tour canceled on us because the group wasn't big enough to go out, but Napali Kayak Tours fit us onto their schedule and helped us make this one-in-a-lifetime experience happen! We were so appreciative.
We are two fit people in our 20s who had kayaked in lakes and rivers before. We had not kayaked in the ocean. We went out together in a two person kayak. While it was difficult, it really was an amazing experience! Brian did everything he could to help us get accustom to the equipment and water, as well as looking out for our safety. (He also took some amazing pictures of us on the water that he shared after the tour! Super cool!) I would definitely suggest preparing for this kayak. Some of the things we did ... scopolamine patches (lifesaver, we put on the night before, we were the only ones not sea sick) gloves long sleeved clothing, hat, and sun protection sunglasses with a strap energy snacks that fit in pockets (energy gels, beans, bars, Gatorade) we brought 2L of water per person (at least) prepare for everything on your person to get wet.
I spoke to Josh on the phone before hand, and I appreciated his upfront advice and honesty about the tour. We were originally planning to do the 10mile trip, but I'm glad we chose the 17mile instead.
Amazing experience and THE highlight of our trip to Kauai. Our friends and family loved hearing about our kayaking adventure. Big thank you to Napali...
