We used DeBerge's Framing & Gallery within the last several months. We had a very personal and emotional immediate family portrait reframed. The initial meeting with one of the shop's owners went well. A decent amount of time was spent going through options and initial customer service was good and appreciated. I also appreciated the heads-up about the large charge to use a credit card later on. Unfortunately, a couple of days after dropping the portrait off to get re-framed, the initial good customer service was not continued by the other co-owner. I received a very inappropriate and harsh "it is ready when it is ready" kind of response and an otherwise extremely rude tone and posture when calling to follow-up for an update. I was so taken back that I planned to simply ask for my picture back. Almost immediately the day following, the picture was all of a sudden "ready for pick-up," which may have been an indication of the Shop acknowledging that this interaction was inappropriate and unacceptable. After speaking to one of the owners to share my experience the next day, although there was an effort to somewhat listen to my concern, I was not convinced that sharing my experience would change anything based on the unfortunate employee I spoke to also being a co-owner. I would like to think that if someone is willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars on something so personal and intimate, good customer service should follow throughout the process. In this case, it clearly did not IMHO. Also kind of weird - literally two hours after my conversation with one of the owners, there was a Google Review raving about how great the customer service is here. Not sure if it was a friend of the family - but definitely a suspicious timing. To be fair - the actual quality of work seemed to be good. Too bad that much of the actual customer service experience did not live up to the good local reputation of this local...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars I would. I had only heard good things about DeBerge’s, but after my experience I will never recommend them to anyone. I brought my Giannis Antetokounmpo signed jersey and photo to be framed as a Christmas present. Instead of admitting this is not their speciality or area of expertise they performed the framing and ruined these pieces. The most disappointing part of this experience is that they ruined the signed photo. This signed photo, which is valued at $100+, was glued to a piece of mat board in Hobby Lobby quality work and was mounted touching the glass. This caused the film of the picture of wear off and distort the image leaving it worthless and unable to be reframed or used. I would expect that a professional framing company would have the know how of how to properly protect a signed picture. The jersey was also done in a quick, sloppy manner. In less than one year, the jersey had wrinkled and was coming loose from the mat board to which it was attached. After less than a year of looking at what was supposed to be an amazing sports collector piece we had to have the jersey reframed, losing out on the money spent at DeBerge’s to frame originally ($400), as well as a treasured photo. In conclusion, I will never recommend this framing establishment to anyone. This all could have been prevented with a little honesty upfront...
Read moreMy father was a painter, illustrator and cartoonist. His work included paintings for galleries and cartooning for both the NAACP newspaper and, in the 1940’s, Stars and Stripes magazine. He also headed the graphic arts department for the US 5th Army. His passing left my brother and me with examples of his work, all created in the late 1930’s to 1970’s, none of which were framed. In particular, we were left several cartoon storyboards, a painting and two beautiful pastel pencil drawings on velum. One of the velum drawings, circa 1945, was badly cracked and damaged. I brought all of the above to DeBerge’s Custom Picture Framing in Kenosha for framing and, if possible, repair, though I didn’t think the velum drawing was repairable. Barb and Kim DeBerge did a museum-quality restoration on the damaged drawing. Even my family and I cannot tell, on close inspection, where it was damaged. They also framed all of the artwork. Their work is immaculate, their prices remarkably fair and their customer service exemplary. While I live in Kenosha and was, therefore, able to “shop locally”, if I lived elsewhere and needed framing, restoration or any related services for artwork, I would travel to DeBerge’s to have it done regardless of distance. They are, quite...
