Altar'd State Woodland Mall — Local services in Kentwood

I love Altar’d State and have shopped here for a while. I’m not from the Grand Rapids area, but when I was there I decided to hit up the store. The employees there were kind and welcoming. However, they were providing false information. I had my birthday reward that I wanted to use and the cashier told me I wouldn’t be able to use it because the item was on sale. I was confused because I had always used it on sale items before and didn’t see any exclusions. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it so I said “that’s okay.” When I came to my local mall and found the same outfit, I went to the register and they were able to use the reward on that sale item. I told them about my situation in Grand Rapids and they told me that the cashier gave me false information and that he should have processed it through and that they’re not sure why he said that. I was upset to hear that and I hope for future reference employees are more aware of policies and such. I think I’ll stick to my local Altar’d State from now on. They’re the best...

Every time I visit this store there is no one around to greet or acknowledge me. Most often I am in the store shopping for a minimum of 10 minutes before any one even approaches me to say “hello.” If I am greeted, that is all I get. No one asks me what I’m shopping for or how they can help me, unless it’s someone working that knows me. Usually I find what I need on my own, get my own stuff down and help myself to the fitting room. When this happens, they only notice me when I’m ready to checkout and ask me if anyone helped me. When I say no, they always apologize… one of my most recent experiences, I did not find anything to purchase and I went unnoticed or acknowledged the entire time. Even though I would appreciate help in putting outfits together and shopping for special occasions, I am not sure if the employees there would lead me in the right direction as most of them don’t appear to be fashionable or put themselves together, as college sweatpants and leggings seem to be the fashion standard...

I had a great experience at this store today. I was greeted with a smile by Rachel, and she asked me if I needed anything. She checked up on me while I was browsing. She got down a dress for me that was hanging up high, and she found the dress that was in the window display that brought me into the store on the floor for me to try on! She also pointed me to the fitting rooms and who could help me there if I needed it. While trying on the dresses, one of the workers knocked and asked me if they could get me any different sizes. Great service! Finally, Elizabeth checked me out. She made very pleasant conversation and rang me up efficiently. I love this store and will be...
