We came looking for Warhammer 40k and left with full bellies, warm hearts, and an eagerness to return!
We went to a local festival where a vendor suggested that we try this place out since we enjoy all things geeky and nerdy. When we looked it up online, we saw the Warhammer 40k, D&D, and Magic the Gathering and we were sold. A little bit of a drive for us, but it was well worth it! From the time we hit the door, we were welcomed like old friends as they explained everything. My son instantly noticed their large Warhammer section and I bee-lined towards the D&D wall. My husband walked off into the neighboring room to look at the generous selection of board games. We were then directed to a full menu that was also available.
So, when I say that this place has it all - they really do have it all! Great food. Nice people. An amazing selection of board games, dice, trading cards (their Magic the Gathering section is FANTASTIC), and even plushies and toys. Even if you are just looking to get into Dungeons and Dragons or just want a safe space to play games, The Dragonâs Nest is definitely it!
Side note: I have never, in my life, seen a place offer toiletries for women (should they need it). It was a welcome surprise that is uncommonly kind and I hope to see more of the like with other businesses. Women are not necessarily a mainstay in the gaming world and oftentimes get looked as an object of interest. This small act acknowledges that not only are women invited into the store, but they...
Read moreI passed by this place for about a year. I thought it was some form of metaphysical oriented business, and I was wrong.
About a week ago, I walked in the door because another local denizen advised me to check it out.
Moving in from the midday Spring sun, a veritable visual cacophony assaulted my senses. A cornucopia of gaming gear and supplies lines almost every nook and cranny. Any spot without merchandise is either in-store play area or suffused with fantasy themed murals. Life-size models of a goblin stand guard strangely remind me of foo dogs.
As best I could ascertain, the public area of this business consists of five rooms. The room immediately through the door contains merchandise and a checkout counter. Two of the other rooms rooms have in-store play areas as a central element. The fourth, medieval fantasy themed, room contains specialized furniture for a tabletop role-playing game. This business has a single public bathroom.
Though I'm a little dated to be an expert anymore, the prices seem reasonably low--reminiscent of Greenland Cards & Comics in Lufkin back in the 90's.

Read moreHad an amazing time today! The employees were awesome and friendly. The food was delicious. The environment was so cozy and they had so many fun things to look at and buy. My only complaint is that the dnd books were a bit pricy compared to online marketplaces such as Amazon (10$-15$ difference) but they had a lot of alternate covers for dnd books I havenât seen before. And itâs very girl friendly! The last photo is a cute caddy they had in the womanâs restroom for women who might forget something at home. I felt immediately welcomed when I saw that and felt like it was a safe place. I struggle with anxiety, especially going to new places, and everyone was so kind but not in the âfollow you around the store and bother you with questionsâ kind of way. I definitely felt safe and comfortable, which is rare! 10/10 experience. Iâm excited to go back soon when I have...
