I'm a bit unsure where to begin. The ranger was a bit of a clown in his unprofessional nature and tone as it related to providing guidance based on inaccurate information from his team. The tee box placements were inconsistent with the starter's reporting. It seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right doing over there.
At least half of the greens in the back 9 were stained with machinery oil and the reality is when you're paying the price being charged, you're looking for conditions that don't look like the superintendent school-aged child managed them. Which brings me to my next point: hole replacement management was as unsatisfactory as the 9-hole chicken farm in course in rural America. How can you justify 3-8 (depending in the hole itself) old holes encircling the new hole itself. Timing anyone? And into the next point....the crowns on the holes created a roll from the hole such that a decent golfer's read of a the hole rendered an easy loss of a stroke.

Read moreI've played a lot of Orlando courses and Hawks Landing is not in the top 25. My first impression wasn't very good when I was told that the range was "irons only" and that you must hit off of mats. It is very short with typical Florida lateral water hazards and forced the perfunctory bulkheads ala Pete Dye. The course conditions were pretty good. On the back 9 you end up driving through an apartment complex which was not only weird, but also a terrible golf experience-trying to hit to the sound of a garbage truck backing up or leaf blowers. The final hole is an island green paying homage to #17 at TPC Sawgrass, but that is the only similarity. I hit 2 really nice shots that didn't hold the green because it is a newish green and hard as a rock. In short, if you have time, go somewhere else like Grand Cypress or Orange County National, even Celebration is...
Read moreThe course itself is quite beautiful and presents a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels. It is very scenic, and the conditions were well-maintained. However, the overall experience was frustrating due to extremely slow play.
We were stuck behind groups for nearly the entire round, and after five hours, we still weren’t able to finish because of how overbooked the course was. There was an event going on, but the tee times were not spaced properly to account for it. Waiting on every shot took away from any enjoyment we might have had.
It’s a shame because the course is stunning, but the lack of proper scheduling and pace management made it a disappointing day. If they can be more organized with appropriately spaced out tee times, it would be a much better experience, but as it stands, I can’t recommend it unless you have all...
