Checked Appliances (Store Open By Appointment Only) — Local services in Knoxville

I have a terrible track record with NEW washing machines, even under warranty; so, I prefer to buy pre-owned/refurbished with a warranty. I have historically had much better luck with these type purchases. When my washer started malfunctioning, I initially was searching fb marketplace for a used machine when I found the Checked Appliances ad. I sent an inquiry through messenger and got a response back within minutes. Troy filled me in on how to shop/see the inventory and also let me know they offered in home repair. He quoted me the service call price up front, stating that the $90 fee would apply to parts/labor for the repair. Completely through messenger, I was able to schedule repair, provide model number and details about the issue. I reached out on Friday and was given a slot of 11-3 for a Monday repair call. Very quick scheduling! Technician called approx 30 min out as promised, arrived on time, and had the problem determined with repair options in less than 30 minutes. I opted not to repair due to age of my machine, part costs, etc. Tech was helpful in answering my questions about various brands and features for my upcoming purchase and provided contact info for service needs in future. He was not pushy in any way, but did refer me to website for potential shopping for next washer.

I browsed their website and many other new, preowned, and discount sites and sales. I used messenger again to inquire about purchasing, delivery, installation, etc. Again, all responded to very quickly, even telling me purchase could be delivered that same evening by 8pm!

I did, in fact, purchase from their website, getting an LG washer/dryer ultimate capacity set for about half of retail price! They again arrived right on time with courtesy call en route. Techs installed and demonstrated all basic functions and left me doing laundry, finally!

Unfortunately, I got laundry started that evening but was unable to finis. An error code appeared on the screen. I searched this code in the manual and found that it had something to do with the drain. I checked the drain hose as instructed but could not find an issue.I messaged Checked Appliances again early next morning and again got an immediate reply. I was told that they would be out 1st thing that morning to fix the machine. Troy came out right on time again and was extremely apologetic, reminding me that they stood by all their appliances and do offer a 30 day warranty. He went to work and eventually let me know the drain pump had given out. He left to pick up a new drain pump, returned, installed it and new water valves, and even called his afternoon clients and asked them if it would be OK to bump their time up a little further so he could finish here. The machine has worked beautifully since then. Troy even called today just to make sure everything was working well!

Whatever you do, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE!!! This is your sign to purchase a new washer/dryer set or individual piece. Customer service sounds great when you first call but GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The price vs. the quality of the merchandise is not worth the hassle and you'll end up bleeding money. Everything will be perfect until there's an issue with your unit, then things change.

I've had my set for a year thus far and I need a new dryer. I called asking for someone to look at my dryer because the display wasn't working. The tech arrived late, making me late for work (the scheduled appointment gave me an hour in between when the tech should have arrived and when I needed to be at work). He disassembled my dryer where I realized they did not clean it at all, which also leads me to believe they never did any maintenance between the time they were donated, sold or found the dryer on the side of the road because honestly, I should not have these problems, even if the unit was used. When the tech arrived, my dryer ran fine without the display but when the tech left, it no longer turned on. Not to mention, this entire appointment costs me $90 that I didn't know I had to pay until the tech was leaving.

I decided to replace the part myself because, without even knowing what was wrong with my dryer, I was quoted $200 for labor, plus the price and shipping of the part, which would've come up to more than what I paid for the dryer to begin with. While repairing my dryer, not only did I encounter enough dust to fill my vacuum TWICE but the unit was basically infested with bugs and spiders. The tech disassembled it first so no one can convince me that he did not see what I have pictures of and if I could post them, I would. It's a wonder the dryer has worked this long with the number of bugs I've cleaned out of it, along with the mountains of dust. Also, the part they claimed was defective wasn't even the issue.

This is your sign to go somewhere else. Thank God my washer works but considering what I've found in my dryer, I'll probably just purchase a new set and have this one hauled away because I'm right back where I started when I found this place.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR HASSLE!!! JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND...

USE THIS COMPANY!!! We have had 3 different appliance companies look at our fridge and the 2 from the beginning both said it could not be fixed and to throw it away. Despite what we were told, we wanted another opinion and we called this company to ask. The office recommended we have their technician come diagnose it and also stated that many companies are not trained on LG products specifically.

We own a huge furniture company with over 10 staff members! Our LG fridge in the break room quit cooling and we found these people through one of our staff members. They advised to use this company because they had fixed appliances for them in the past.

The technician repaired our fridge the same day and it was very affordable. (Less than $200.) The technician knew the issue in less than 10 minutes and had the part with him to repair. 45 mins, later our fridge was fixed and our staff was extremely happy! We were flabbergasted at how simple the technician broke down the fault on the fridge. He made it very easy to understand the issue and advised us of the cost for the repair before proceeding to fix.
