Anafres Grill & Market — Restaurant in Knoxville

Obviously, a racist restaurant. Definitely would not recommend it. Took my 7yr old daughter & her 8 yr old cousin here on Sunday 6/25/23 because they had never been & wanted to go. When we went in no one was at the front but there was a girl at the bar & a man who looked at us & continued doing what they were doing. They never acknowledged us. After standing there for 5 mins or so I just told the kids to come on we'll go somewhere else. It was very disrespectful & degrading. Why should we Americans feel any sympathy for these people when they're trying to come over here when they're rude & racist to us? The ones with those personalities should just stay were they're at. If they are not use to diversity don't come over here!!!! And this is no disrespect to anyone because I am of a mixed race. My son's grandmother is Mexican & his grandfather is from Spain. so, I am not racist or against these people. However, I do not like ignorance & disrespect toward people. We shouldn't support an establishment that doesn't have respect for us. Why should we make them rich or help them earn a paycheck? Honestly, the only reason I came here was because Monterrey was too busy across the street. Monterey had 6 parties on wait. Anafres had 3 parties total when we walked in. We ordered the Pastor Chimichanga and taco plate with birria, chicken, and pastor. The pastor tasted rancid, almost like sausage that has gone too far. The birria was dry, which is odd considering birria is usually dipped/covered in birria sauce. The portion sizes are way too big, and given the lack of business, it would seem they give customers more food to get rid of the food the order because they can't sell it enough... Hopefully I don't get sick from this.

Server spoke broken English, whenever my fiancé addressed that the food tasted bad and that it tasted spoiled, there was no response from her and we were still strapped with the bill for it. Pretty poor service, had to wait forever for our order to even be taken, no manager's visit whenever we had a complaint, and we could see the line cook eating on the cooking line without washing his hands.

The food here was good; it's just like any other Mexican restaurant though, so I wouldn't go here specifically because they did outstanding in food, but if you're in the mood for Mexican this will fulfil your appetite!

The service here was awful. Our waiter only came back once after we got our food. He seemed to be some highschooler, but it seemed like he was constantly taking breaks and disappearing. It wasn't busy in the restaurant so I'm not sure what was happening. We waited 30 minutes for him to come back to ask if we wanted more to drink, then we waited 30 minutes after that just to ask for the check... Then he just stood there while we were trying to leave.. very akward.

The atmosphere was amazing! The women's bathroom has selfie stations and the place is decorated gorgeously! There's flowers everywhere. It was beautiful ❤️

I gave the overall rating a 3/5. The decorations were nice, and was honestly the best part of the experience of dining here.
