University of Tennessee Student Union — Local services in Knoxville

If you like a testament to all the wasted money at UTK, you'll like this building. A few things I hate:

You have to be in a club to use the multi purpose rooms

No more bowling alley, it used to be such a great place to hang out. Now they have a few xboxs and some cheap ping pong tables in a room 1/5th the size. How that services 28k students we will never know.

Who spends $180,000,000 on a new building but doesn't buy a microwave. The only microwave in the building is a hand-me-down from the teachers lounge that stopped heating food back in the early '90s.

All the flashy marble flooring looks good, until you realize hardly anyone will ever...

Food includes Qudoba, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, and Salad Creations. During rush hours the lines are ridiculous and there is no seating. The giant staircase is ridiculous and unnecessary and takes up about 1/4 of the building that could have been used for more seating and/or an additional food place. Hopefully it will be better when the other half opens but I am not impressed by the current food options they intend...

Brand new facility. Phase 2 and final construction opened Jan 2019. Great spaces to hold meetings and events. Parking at Vol Hall is only a block away and can accommodate large attendance. Rooms have AV tech set up. Convenient for on campus dining and coffee (Starbucks location here!). Info desk on the 1st floor entering from Cumberland for those who may...
