First off, go to the website so receive your free admission to the museum. You can't enter it unless you have valid tickets.

Now ok... I get that this museum is to preserve history we all understand this concept. But what I don't get is that more than half of the Native American artifacts in this section was removed by Tribes because it was viewed "incorrectly." Instead of having a Tribe member being in the museum to inform people they just removed the artifacts entirely from public eye. How I would do it, inform and educate rather than take down things. Just very odd to me.

The bottom half of the museum (after you walk down the stairs) is interesting although the theory that we came from "apes" is uh... A different topic.

It's a nice sized museum, very clean, quiet and people are respectfully when going into each section.

P.S, if a Baseball game is nearby and they charge for parking let them know that you're visiting the museum not the game so you can get in to park. If not, you'll get charged $20 to park for free.

It's far better than the Knoxville Museum of Art, now that's a different...

We love this museum! My husband and I go a few times a year. It's a fun trip for natural history and traveling exhibitions that begins before you go in the door with dinosaurs and rocks and other natural formations from as far back as 480 million years ago. Then you walk in the door and it's a self led tour. There are maps to guide you. It takes us a couple hours and we love to browse slowly and really look at everything. There isn't really a kids section so idk if kids would enjoy it. We don't have any but I wouldn't take my small child there because of the delicate items in a museum and because I don't think they'd have fun. There is parking close to the building and I don't remember ever having to pay for parking. I would avoid this area on football game Saturdays at Neyland, traffic isn't worth it. Otherwise its a great place to visit and if you live in the area and never havd been how disappointing. You are missing out and should take...

How come the modern refined new civilization has not learned from the earlier "History" of humanity, which I find very interesting. I realize society is no different than what we call history, history has found a way to repeat itself in the future, I guess the only thing that actually changed with mankind is (KNOWLEDGE ) our actions are just the same as it was in the past now current. We are no better now than the previous race of humanity. What happened to (WISDOM), even today's leaders are lacking that most important component. We must be a great disappointment to that same power that gave life in the beginning. At the same time, that same power believes in humanity and knows our ability to achieve something Next to Godliness that is pleasing acceptable in the name of good a perfect representation of the light itself, Only a few in the history of mankind has anyone lived up to the expectations of that perfect light that...

A lovely place to walk through and enjoy displays of natural and cultural history. Although a small collection, great care has been taken on the research, display, and cultural/scientific significance. I enjoyed the castings provided in context to the exhibit, such as the Venus in the human evolution room. I agree it is important to return culturally significant pieces to their origin if requested. I appreciated the collection mentioning this. Little kids may breeze through these exhibits and it seems more interactive spaces may be coming. I also enjoy being able to interact with exhibits and hope they can achieve that. I noticed and appreciated their "creative space" for children to contribute to the art there. For their size and purpose I think this is a great spot. If you're in the mood to go and learn something, this is a fantastic space.

For an entirely free exhibit it is fairly excellent. Some of the displays seem to change out from time to time based on what I've seen in some of the photos, and of course some of the exhibits feature replicas however it still represents a very good idea of what the original one was like (actually I tend to think it's best that museums don't place the original artifact on display) which is normally at a much larger museum. This museum can be walked through quickly though I advise taking in the detail for a decent 2 hours (I walked in forgetting the hour was moved ahead though still managed to compose decent photographs, which is what I intended to do.)

A wonderful little museum. Parking was a little confusing especially since my GPS took me to the back entrance where I couldn't park. You get free two hour parking right in front if you tell the parking attendant you want to visit the museum. The exhibits were very interesting and well described. All the information was very respectful and up to date. I don't think I've been to a museum that has been more respectful of culture and also constantly acknowledging of racial bias and colonialism in the museum industry. There was also a super cute craft room for the kids. A must visit especially since it's free.
