Today I had the first disappointing experience with Brenz. I placed an online order for three large pizzas at 11:00 AM. The address that I requested delivery to is 1.1 miles away from Brenz.
After placing the online order, I received a confirmation email at 11:02 AM stating that the order would be delivered in approximately 45 minutes. I did not need the food until a 12:00 PM lunch meeting, so I thought I was in the clear.
12:00 PM rolls around and no delivery yet. Then 12:10. Still no pizza. I called the restaurant at 12:12 and asked for an ETA on the delivery. I was told "Oh, the delivery driver just left! We'll be right there." Reminder- a delivery distance of 1.1 miles.
12:30 PM-No pizza. I called again and was told "It should be there any minute!" The pizza finally arrived at 12:37 PM. That's a full hour and a half after I ordered it. A full 45 minutes after the estimated delivery time. Not once during the hour and a half that I spent waiting for the pizza did anyone reach out to me to let me know that they were short staffed or running behind or anything.
I sent the delivery driver back with a business card and asked the manager to refund the order based on the poor service and lack of communication. He called my office and was very rude to me on the phone about the issues that we had with the order. He proceeded to tell me "the delivery time isn't a guarantee" to which I replied "so you think it's ok for a pizza delivery less than 2 miles away to take an hour and thirty minutes?" He was unrepentant.
We argued back and forth and he offered me a $50 credit on a future order. Why would I want a discount on a future order when I've received such poor service this time and lukewarm pizza? Then he told me the best he could do was give me a $25 refund on an $80...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't have much bad to say about Brenz. The person who owns the building however, is a certified crook. For the past year people have been parking around back to pick up their carry out orders. Last night there was an unofficial looking guy putting boots on anyone's car that came through and charging them $70 to remove it. This was in accordance with the man who owns the property. The guy is a short chubby waste of space and should find a real job instead of preying on innocent people just trying to get a meal. There is no signage saying not to park in this area. Which makes what he is doing illegal, according to campus authorities. I have also forwarded this same text to WBIR and they seemed interested in finding our who both of these crooks are.
They are effecting the business and potential income of the establishments by claiming they are there for Brenz Pizza and Chipotle. After speaking with managers at both establishments they noted that they have received a plethora of complaints on the matter.
I for one will not have any further business with the two restaurants until a notable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered carryout from the Knoxville location on 7/25/2025. My interaction with the staff was limited, but they were very courteous and willing to provide any incidentals you asked for.
I ordered an individual size, loaded pep and cheese, along with a chef salad. The pizza was excellent. Great flavor, the didn't skimp on the toppings, even though it was an individual size. The only complaints for the pizza were actually a result of me not ordering properly... I typically order my crust well done and lite on the sauce, neither of which I did, but that in no way detracted from the quality of their pizza.
The salad was great. The greens were fresh and crispy, the cheese was fresh mozzarella, and the meats were of the same excellent quality they use on their pizzas.
My only gripe with the salad was the Italian dressing. It seemed to be very thin and watery and bland tasting, very uncharacteristic of a good quality Italian dressing.
That said, I'll gladly come back when I return to Knoxville again. Even better for me, Brenz has three locations in the...
