The Barrel Inn Bar & Grill — Restaurant in La Crosse

My husband and I stopped in for lunch last fri. We had never eaten there but had been told several times how awesome the burgers and food was so we finally had the time to give them a try. When we arrived it was a little busy but there was stiil seating. We sat for almost 20 while a very loud young man quite slowly wandered around taking orders and yakking with other customers. He never even acknowledged us.We noticed other folks who had been there before us that had stll not been served. We finally got up and left , followed by several others.(btw the lady at the grill was working very hard to keep up w/ orders kudos to her!) Will we be back? Went here after a weekend of work with coworkers. The bar and grill was not busy by any means. The bartenders act like they were getting slammed. Very poor service. There was 5 of us in the group.

When trying to place our order at bar they would just take one persons order and then when we all stood there they acted like the had help us all. When trying to place food order they just would say that it was 30 minute wait and wouldn’t give us a chance to say anything such as a side of range sauce. They were out of some of the basic items for beverages.

Average food and drinks. Not a fan of the 'no sauce on chicken wings' thing. Small bathrooms. Great jukebox. Hit or miss as far as bartender friendliness or customer service. On more than 1 occassion I've had to walk to the far opposite end of the bar to interrupt a never-ending conversation between a bartender and patron so I could order a drink. Kind of boring if you're not there to watch sports. Outdoor patio usually a plus but I hate theirs is right in front of the only entrance, which means you almost always have to choke in a cloud of nasty second hand weed and/or cigarette smoke as you enter and exit.
