Tubbys TCG — Local services in La Mesa

What an amazing little gem in the card game world! I brought my 5 year old here because she wants to become a Pokémon trainer/battle expert. Right when we walked in there were tables full of older kids(20s) playing card games and being loud and fun. My child, Lily, was so excited to see other kids doing what she liked to do. The front counter guy Evan Zuniga was so nice to Lily and asked to see her binder and cards. She was super excited to talk to older “cool” (in her words) kids about Pokémon. I let them know she was a beginner and we needed some cards and knowledge. They didn’t even hesitate to start showing Lily around the store and giving her TWO FREE POKÉMON CARD PACKS! They said all new trainers get a free pack! She couldn’t be more excited. During our time there the owner(tubby) told his brother (Evan) to give her one of his special cards. He gave her a really special Eevee card. She couldn’t have had a bigger smile on her face. We walked out spending 65$ on Pokémon cards and packs but received a priceless moment and some new buddies. Awesome selection, and the staff are generally cool but today i did not feel that. I put a card to the side i didnt want to trade and said if it was needed id add that or a psa 10 i had on top instead. Ended up adding the psa 10 and dude kept the venusaur! And then when I re counted up my trade value, which should have been 207$ (originally closer to 375$). I was only at 197$. I respectfully left im not gonna crash out over 10$. I even apoligized for coming back in and making the trade more complicated. I dont mind because i got awesome cards haha.But i thought id leave a review for the principle, i have a hard time approaching people in general, so when someone decides to start getting confrontational when i was trying to show the math i had written down and you dont even let a brotha speak. It really makes me not wanna to come back in. I dont know if it was an off day because they're usually my go to for their cool staff. But today was somewhat of an exception. Great Staff. Good place for singles and amazingly chill spot to play pokemon with some people that are really knowledgeable and cool to play with. Shout out to Tubby the owner, Gabe and David as they are very cool and social peeps.Just like TCs Rockets they probably have hands down the best singles market but they definitely a bit more price as they use the TCG app for all sells. They always tend to have sealed products. Now comes the downside: 1 They open a bit late and close a bit early. Although just like TCs Rockets 🚀 they have some regulars that seem to have a stick in their ass about playing some TCg games. I get being competitive but some People Literally have Bitchy attitudes and are Big Headed about the Games played and how they go about playing or acting. Only downside aside from that is that Tubbys is very small and can't accommodate a huge crowd. Also they close at 8 sharp and do rush out the door,which leaves no time after running games to buy more stuff or...
