My parents moved to the St George area and randomly, one day last year, I decided to convince them to come rock hunting with me at the rock shops. I am so grateful I stumbled across this store. The owner is absolutely amazing and if something didn’t work for me he would find something else that snatched my attention. My first visit I spent almost $400 because his selection is just pure amazing and his son was very helpful with educating me on his stuff. He gave me a nice deal on some of the things he had in the back, some amazing minerals for 2 for $25. I was excited to see he had a nice selection of raw opals too as that is my favorite and I focus more on those. I was also thrilled that he had a different variety of minerals. I visited my parents recently last week again for Christmas and naturally I zoomed for his shop first as soon as I got there. He had a wonderful selection of Boulder opals but they were a bit out of my price range. The owner went to the back and got a bucket of Honduran opal that was fresh off the truck and I got to pick through those and I was thrilled because you don’t stumble across opal like that anywhere and dealers online want an arm and a leg for it. I live in Salt Lake City and I wish I lived closer because this rock store is every rock hounds and collectors dream. I absolutely love family run businesses because the customer service is so much better plus they make you feel valued. I was thrilled to find they have an account on Etsy so now I can still buy things from afar until I can get back down south again. The owner is amazing and so are his family that works there. I’m a customer for life and will continue to go there each...
Read moreI have been to quite a few rock/gem shops in the area and have had mostly good experiences. The thing that separates this particular one is how they allow customers to go into the back and rummage through piles of unsorted stones. I, personally discovered a piece that seems to be a petrified wood + magma + some sort of sap amber combo.
While being most certainly no expert and pretty new to the whole rock identification field, I can't say what exactly composes the stone, but I do have a gift that allows me to identify energies as being beneficial/healing to our physiology. This rock is one that brings air into my lungs and soothes my state of being every time I grasp it. In fact, I keep it right next to me on the table and often utilize the cleansing effect it has on me when dealing with, let's just say, "unsavory" things. Thank you, Paul for sourcing such a helpful stone and providing e the opportunity to discover it!
Also, the abalone pieces as well as the clear quartz are superbly therapeutic both visually and to the touch. Some real good genuine articles, they are.
Many thanks and...
Read moreI am from Vancouver, British Columbia, first timer to the area, and this awesome little shop. We were checking out the regions amazing countryside and saw this little rock shop as we drove. We immediately stopped to see what sort of crystals we could find and thought I am going to find something to surprise my wife with, maybe a crystal or two from the area. Lucky for me this young lady named Sam, who was working came over to say "hello". She is an absolute delight to chat with about the region and its gems. She showed us around and narrowed down the "crystals" that interested us. I ended up choosing an indigenous crystal from the area, and another called a “ribbon crystal”. I was so pleased to have met someone from the area with similar interests, who is knowledgeable on the areas "special offerings", as Sam is We will be back to this fabulous...
