My visit to Gizmo was not as pleasant as expected. I researched and noticed that they did glass repair for anI pad 12.9. On their website it stated a price of 299 and if you made an appointment online then it would be 10 dollars off so 289 not including taxes seemed very reasonable. So i made the appointment went to drop my iPad on off. Keep in mind i was quoted the same price when i dropped it off with the technician. He stated it make take 24 hours or so due to having to order the screen and they will call me the day it arrived. A few days had passed and i never received an call so I called them then they decided to inform me they are having issues getting the screen in due to COVID 19. Again not explained in the beginning and never called me I had to call them. Another 3-4 days passed I had to call them. Once again the same response delayed due to COVID 19. Finally they called me on a Sunday to inform me my tablet was available. I wasn't able to make it until this Sunday. When i go to retrieve my Tablet the technician said it was over 400 dollars to get my tablet. So I'm confused and furious. I asked why the price jump and she says it was actually 399 for the repair due to it being a generation 2. Mind you on the website it does not say if its a generation 1,2,or 3 the price would be over 100 dollar difference. and i was also quoted the 299 price by the tech when i dropped my tablet off and made them aware it was a generation 2. I find it in poor service for a company not to honor the price that is on their website for a particular service which happens to be the same price that was quoted by one of their representatives. For you to expected your customers to pay a price that was not quoted to them from the begging is dishonest and poor business. Also, it was explained to me the reason why it was not 24 hours is because they had to order two different screens due to them ordering the incorrect screen to fit my my tablet the first time. Another dishonest moment. Just be upfront and honest and let the customer make the choice. Don't be dishonest about prices and procedures and still expect full compensation. I guess the customer is always right...
Read moreEDIT: I just want to point out to everyone reading how the business chose to respond. They think that there isn't a computer repair shop that is right across the street, and that the aforementioned shop quoted me a cheaper price the day before I went to Gizmo Depot after a month of waiting for them to fix my laptop and told them that they have a week to fix my laptop, or I would be taking the screen I paid for, and the laptop and going somewhere else. A petty response from a fly by night company. Hope everyone takes notice.
The business stated that the repair would take about a week and a half (five business days, plus "a few days to make sure that it works." ) The actual time it took to complete the work was four and a half weeks. I called after the first deadline was missed and was told "a few days" by the staff member on the phone. This deadline was missed too, and I went in person to the store and was again told "a few more days." I called after this deadline was missed, and again was given "a few more days" as an extension. On the fourth time, I went in person to the store and was told that they had issues with the first screen they installed on it, and that replacement parts were ordered. This information was never communicated with me before this, and was only given to me after I told the staff member in the store that they had one week or I would take my business elsewhere. Overall, poor communication and multiple missed deadlines are what earn this...
Read moreWell, when my phone's screen broke (bad enough that the glass actually cut me!) I was told by a good friend that theirs had been fixed at MMD in Lady Lake. I called, and not only would it take a week for them to get a Galaxy S5 screen, it was also gonna cost $250 dollars! I went to Sprint's store in the ViaPort mall in Leesburg and they couldn't help me because I had no insurance on my phone. A very helpful employee gave me a card for Repair Wireless in Lady Lake. I called them right away. The first thing I noticed was that they asked me what color my screen was (which they never asked at MMD) and told me to repair would cost $129. I set up an appointment for the very next day. So when I got there, the place didn't look as nice on the outside as MMD but on the inside it was spotless and well organized. The lovely lady inside remembered me from my phone call as soon as I told her my name and she said it would take 1-2 hours to repair. I gave her my mother's phone number and went to do some shopping while we were waiting. In about one hour, I was called and told my phone was ready. When I picked up my phone, I also bought a case to protect it. The repair and the case cost $191. STILL CHEAPER THAN MMD. I'm going to make sure to always recommend this place when anyone has phone problems. They are quick, polite, and cheaper than the other places in the area. I know my family will be going back with any other...
