A few years ago we knew the time was coming that my mother-in-law with Alzheimer’s would be too much for her husband to manage and she would need to live in an assisted living home. I visited carehome and other bigger facilities but after visiting Lafayette Gardens I was clear that the other places were just institutions.
Lafayette Gardens truly was a home for my mother-in-law in the last one and a half years of her life. Because it’s small, the staff knows them personality and particular needs of all the residents. For my mother-in-law, they knew that her afternoon agitation, when she needed to lie down for a bit with a little cuddle. All the caregivers were wonderful and they even provided assistance in PT. He was at Lafayette Gardens for 2 months and I visited often and heard the laughter and upbeat talk while the ladies cared for the residents. I felt welcomed by the caregivers even when I had questions and requests. We liked to go out on the patio for some sun and fresh air and the quiet neighborhood allows for hearing birds and squirrels. Zippy the pomdog adds to the home atmosphere. The owner is concerned for the residents' needs and is very available for any questions. I can tell it's not just a business for her. Thank...
