She saved my hair… literally. I came in for a color rinse and blow dry, and Niya was amazing from the start. She did a fantastic job with the color—my grays were completely covered and the shine was beautiful! She placed me under the dryer and had to step away for another client. That’s when someone else stepped in… and let’s just say, it went downhill from there. Unfortunately, the second stylist didn’t have the right tools, the technique, or the attention to detail that textured hair requires. As a fellow woman of color, I expected more care—but instead, I was about to leave the salon with my hair barely blow dried. That’s a disaster waiting to happen if you plan on pressing or styling afterward.Thank goodness Niya came back just in time! She immediately noticed it wasn’t done right, jumped back in without hesitation, and re-did the entire blow dry. And when I tell you she did it RIGHT… smooth, soft, and fully prepped like it should be. That’s the kind of skill and integrity you don’t always find in a student salon.She’s got an amazing eye for detail, a gentle touch, and a true passion for making sure you walk out confident. The first rule of thumb for schools teaching in the service industry should be greet customers upon arrival into the establishment. Well yesterday I arrived at the school to be serviced by their students and was just looked at by everyone as if I didn’t belong. No one said hello or may I help you. Just blank stares by the students or instructors that were visible to me. After I sat maybe 10 minutes a female finally came out to say that I needed an appointment (none of that is mentioned on their website) cool I had no problem with doing that. But the woman’s tone towards me was as if I was the problem or State Board following up on a bad inspection. Needless to say because of the unwelcoming environment I will not be going back. One thing I despise is when a company asserts that you are lying. As stated no one greeted me upon arrival, I sat for 10 minutes before anyone said anything to me. The reason why I give this place a one star is first because the lady that was doing my hair isn’t that bright of person. I asked her if i can have my hair FLAT IRONED with not a lot of heat. She said ok. After ten minutes I looked in the mirror and I see all she did was blow dry my air and run over it with a hot comb and called it done. I’m pretty sure she didn’t know what she was doing because clearly this was not acceptable. And my ends are still crispy. I ask for a trim and she cut my bad ends but it still feels like she didn’t even do nothing. Also, my roots were puffy after I had got my hair done. I diffintly wouldn’t recommend this place to people who have thick and natural hair because clearly she did not know what she was doing.
