My daughter and I had just finished shopping at World of Thrift across the street when she noticed the British Depot. I had always been curious about this shop and you can't really tell much about it from the outside because the windows are blacked out. In the spirit of adventure we decided to check it out.
Inside the store is a welcoming room filled with all sorts of British treats. There is a frozen food section in the back with sweet and savories. Lining the shelves are crisps, sauces, seasonings, tea, pantry items, cookies, jellies, and British souvenirs. They had a large selection of candy for Easter and my daughter and I had fun picking out sweets to try out. Some of our selections included Cadbury Double decker, Fruit Gums, Chewits, Nestle Yorkie, Swizzles Refreshers, and Poppets!
The British Depot is a family run business and we had a nice chat with Bryan who was covering the store while his daughter Chelsea was away on her honey moon. Next on our list is to investigate is the crisps with new to us flavors like prawn cocktail, marmite, and tomato...
Read moreBritish Depot are amazing for anyone from originally across the pond, or anyone looking to buy something for that special someone. I know some posts from 5-7 years ago referenced an obnoxious woman who worked there, but I've been going there regular for the past 3 years and they are nothing short of amazing! The food, the options, the staff - all great! If you haven't yet, go check it out - prices are reasonable, and if they have sold out of something they regularly stock, they'll be able to tell you right away when it should be delivered, and can put it to one side, and even call you to let you know it is now in stock - that's what I had them do with some Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewell Tarts! Again, they are a great small business, and I couldn't be more pleased with them being (somewhat) local to me (I'll drive the 45mins just to get a decent piece...
Read moreI rarely get home to Florida. The last time I went, I treated my Mom from Old Coulsdon, Surrey, England to walk through The British Depot there in Lake Worth, Florida. Mum was delighted especially at the black current items like Ribena and sweets. I made sure to buy extra. It brought back memories of my mother and myself visiting England to see my grandmother. My Mom passed away shortly after this visit here. It is a beautiful memory and the next time I am in Florida I will visit and purchase items that let all my senses reminisce. The cashier was so helpful. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to be immersed for a few minutes in British culture. Highly recommend to Brits and...
