Chesty's Family Pets — Local services in Lakeport

I came in a month ago to look at some Amano Shrimp after a very pleasant phone call from the shop owners and was blown away by how clean and tidy the store was. I had searched multiple other pet stores in mendo and sonoma county that i didnt feel comfortable buying aquatic animals from because of the water conditions, but felt completely safe here when i saw their tanks. Each one is cycled and has its own conditions and the guy who takes care of them, Dakota i think his name was, is clearly a professional who knows what hes doing and was very friendly. I left with 4 amano shrimp and a healthy looking live plant and took them home to drip acclimate them to my 40 gallon tank. To my suprise the plant had some secret surpises! 4 baby amano shrimp total! And a baby snail! What a score! All the shrimp have been growing happily and comfortably and have even started breeding already, one shrimp is full of eggs! Not knowing what to do to help the eggs i called the store again and the person i spoke to on the phone was a delight, she helped me set up a full plan to take care of them as they develop and ive decided to make Chesty's my number one go-to for any pet needs. It's more than worth the drive from Ukiah. Great service, great people who clearly care about the happiness of their customers and the health of their pets....

I stopped by here on a Monday, it was 9:54 am. The sign on the door said they open at 10:00 Am. So I waited out front for 6 minutes. Expecting them to open. At 5 after 10:00, there was still no one in the store nor did it look like anyone was coming to open the store. This is the only pet store left in Lakeport in lake County California. So it was disappointing to say the least when they didn't open when they said they would be. I live about 25 minutes away and it wasn't an Option to hang around in town to see if they eventually opened. So I was unable to get my feeder goldfish for my ponds. Still haven't been able to get back to the pet store to do this. Have a lot of mosquitoes in the ponds and need the goldfish to help keep them down. So the next time I'm there, I hope...

Visited here a day after they opened and it was a wonderful experience, very clean, professional and all around helpful. Definitely the place to go for all of your pet needs. The staff are welcoming and very polite, one of the ladies was very knowledgeable and gave me a tip on how to switch my rescue ball python to eating rats.

I also love the Marines theme with the bulldog. Semper fi!

Also would really like to see some snakes in there as well. 🙂 10...
