I Went into the store today to sell some clothes and shoes. This was my second time selling stuff there. My first experience was great. I Was able to sell quite a bit and they paid well. Today it was like a totally different store. First off the staff was cold and they barely said two words. I had all name brand items and all were either new or worn one time. Everything was in perfect condition ( in way better condition than a lot of the items out on the floor). They offered me $18 for the 5 items they chose out of the 30 that I brought. One of the items being a pair of brand new boots that retail close to $100 that were still in the box with tags still on them so what a slap in the face honestly. To top it off when I brought the items in they were neatly folded and organized in a tote and they just tossed it back in the tote like trash. I have had better experiences at platos closet. Should have read the reviews before going in but figured since it was so great the first time that this time would be the same. It...
Read moreI am a long-time lover of thrifting, garage sales, estate sales, flea market, secondhand anything, etc. I frequent Unique in Burnsville, love the little secondhand shops around the cities, and Uptown Cheapskate has really made a presence for itself. It's right in my neighborhood and I couldn't be happier. The ladies that buy clothes here have good taste, and they offer very fair prices if you're selling, especially for in-store credit. They have a great shoe selection for both men/women, and stylish clothes all the way from $8 t-shirts all the way up to $500 Burberry coats. I've seen Supreme, Off-White, Billionaire Boys Club, Chinatown Market, and more here, as well as your more conservative, basic looks as well. I thrift a lot, and this has very quickly become a favorite store of mine for keeping my closet fresh for great prices. If you like thrift shopping for clothes, you really want to check this place out. Great new addition to Lakeville/Apple...
Read moreI really liked this store when I first discovered it, but my recent selling experience left me disappointed. I brought in items that retail between $200–$300, and the offers I received were as low as $5–$10. I’ve noticed similar items being purchased from others and listed for resale in the hundreds, which makes the pricing process feel inconsistent—especially since my items were from high-end or luxury brands.
I also asked an employee to walk me through the pricing breakdown, which she did, but then told me she could never do that again because it’s not something they normally allow. This was confusing, as I believe transparency is important—especially when dealing with valuable pieces. It’s hard to understand how they determine what to buy or how much to pay, particularly when some of the pieces they do take in seem outdated.
I hope they consider being more transparent and consistent moving forward, as I do believe the store...
