Stellar Home Theater — Local services in Lakeway

My review is specific to their Austin team. There are some bad providers and then there are some worse. This company falls in the worse category. There something fundamentally wrong with the way they do their business.

Their Sales teams lie to their teeth to get your business. In my case, they painted a rosy picture that everything will be done from start to finish in a week. It’s 6 months now and I am still waiting for few components.

Their installation team in Austin are highly in efficient with poor workmanship, you are better of hiring someone from Task Rabbit. In my case I spent tens of thousand of dollars and their installation team have no ideas what they are doing. They constantly misconfigured my network, do not have a clue on how to tune an AV system. They really do not give a damn about customers. Every day they come to my house do a couple of things and leave without even giving me a training. Most of their installations fail the next day and neither the person who sold the services nor the person who did the installation care to fix.

I ended up hiring a different provider to clean up the mess this company created at my home.

Incompetent and unprofessional

Please listen to other reviewers and do not go with this company, I have spent close to 60k with this company and still not have working home theater system. Their sales / design consultant Jeff is full of lies. They initially made it sound like the entire project will be done in a couple of weeks, but I am waiting for months now. Each time response is the they either missed a product, or a shipment is lost. Jeff is so unprofessional that each time there is a miss he will start blaming either his team or worse myself.

Their team itself is so incompetent that they come each day, fit one equipment, wait for weeks before get the rest. Even after fitting, things do not work and I had to call them several times only to hear that they are busy with other projects and it will several more weeks to come and make things working.

On top Jeff will continue to force a Control 4 system on you which is not only a poor product (see review on iOS and Android), it is a gateway to charge more subscription and support costs for ever.

Avoid this company...

A very disappointing experience with this outfit overall. After waiting over six months for a soundbar (one component in a $4000+ installation) only to discover (after about 4 hours of attempted programing) that it was incompatible with existing equipment, we received a lesser quality unit in its stead. Then, after Stellar reprogramed the second of two new universal remotes, we were left with no instructions regarding its operation. We were able to find a workaround in order to operate the living room tv, but we are currently unable to access the two new speakers purchased from Stellar and installed in the kitchen, and unable to utilize the whole house audio. Stellar has been unresponsive to calls or texts requesting assistance in operating the system. We paid 80% down last spring and the balance when the living room tv was mounted and programed, finally, in December 2022.
