Kudos!!!
The owner gave me a very satisfactory explanation regarding my "complaint" as described below! I will always remain a loyal customer as the people are generally great to work with and they will order almost anything I need if it is something that is not routinely stock given that they do not have the space of a big box store. This is a final edit on this review.
I really do love this store but had an unfortunate experience today, as a result I started to leave a 2 star review but realized that this was due to my being very uncomfortable as I left the shop in a hurry. (Very annoyed)
Being a loyal, albeit small customer ever since they opened I must offer a note of caution to any potential customers who may be getting older. If you think there is even a remote chance that you may need to use a washroom while shopping be sure to go to Home Depot where washrooms are available, apparently there is no flexiblility to the "No Public Washrooms" which is clearly posted. I was unable to continue browsing/shopping since nature was calling loudly giving me no option but to leave as quickly as possible. I am sure there must be a good reason for this policy but it can be very uncomfortable for patrons. Otherwise the people are very helpful and I would recommend them to anyone who has no bladder or bowel issues due to...
Read moreEDIT: As seen below I was given an email for contact and we had a conversation. The cashier was not clear about what I was feeling, which I understand could have been missed by the way I communicated. Derek listened to me and reflected my frustration at rude comments, and does not want that to happen to other masked customers. Speak up if you hear anything like this at Lakewood Hardware and you'll be heard! This is the third time I've visited lakewood hardware. My partner and I have stopped by to get random household and repair needs, they usually have what we need including furnace filters and sink repair items. Unfortunately today I had a run in with a customer who said some negative comments under his breath about me masking. I brought this up to the person who rung up my item, noting why I was masking and the negative comment, and he said something relative but not assuring. I understand that you can't control what customers say, however as someone who's trying to look out for others wellbeing, including disabled people, in your store I want to feel safe to not be commented on in your place of work, rather than currently having unsolicited comments be seen as acceptable or going...
Read moreThis place is an invaluable resource in Lakewood because our old homes often have special needs and the staff here are familiar with all the quirks, oddities and non-standard issues we run into with a 100+ y/o house. Just try finding a radiator key at one of the big home centers. Actually, don't - because they won't have any. Go to Lakewood Hardware instead.
They're always quick to help as soon as you walk in the store (which I appreciate because I feel uncomfortable blindly looking around for something in a hardware store). Sometimes I know exactly what I need but have no idea where to find it. Other times, I just know I have a particular problem without a clue what to do about it, and I can rely on them to help me figure out how...
