Tom's Brew Shop — Local services in Lakewood

Very dissaponted in Tom. Bought a two tap keg conversion kit. Price with no shipping was good. Brewed my first batch of homebrew and found that the regulator had finicky gauges. Hooked up the second keg and the CO2 line had a leak. Took it back and Tom "fixed" it. Came home, hooked it up, and a few hours later my CO2 tank was empty because the leak was not fixed. Brought it back to Tom (an hour drive each way) and he actually fixed it but then CHARGED ME for the CO2 refill that was caused by his mistake. I had to spend lots of gas and time and he still charged me. Unprofessional and dissapointing. I wont be back.

RESPONSE TO TOM: I'm not singling you out for all the blame as I could have checked the line better. However, after you fixed the line the first time, you said that "it definitely won't leak now" and didn't say anything about checking the lines with a spray bottle. Due to your certainty, I assumed you had pressurized the line to check that it had actually been fixed. You didn't even though I said the first time that I thought the leak was in the connector. To add insult to injury, you then swapped the new CO2 tank I had purchased from you with a rusted, used one... and...

I have been going to Tom's for supplies and ingredients for well over a year, and have been nothing but impressed with the selection and customer service every time I am in the shop. Being disappointed with other local homebrew shops in the Lakewood/Denver area, I thought I would just have to buy my beer stuff online, but with Tom's in the area it is easy to shop local. The prices are almost always as good as (if not better) than online prices, and certainly beat any shops in the area. Tom obviously makes a huge effort to carry new items and is constantly expanding the store to carry what everyone wants/needs for brewing beer and wine.

Bottom line: I bought everything I needed to make a dual-keg keggerator (except the mini fridge), CO2 refills, various brewing supplies, and all of my beer ingredients (a couple times a month) from Tom's, and I have always been impressed with the selection, prices, improvements, and...

I had a great experience at Tom's today. I came in to get the supplies for an extract recipe. During the course of selecting what I needed, I had the opportunity to speak with a couple of the people from the shop, both of whom were knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. I somewhat intentionally came in with a recipe that I thought would present some problems getting all the ingredients. It lived up to that billing but I was particularly impressed with the way they came up with suitable alternatives. I have a fair amount of experience and I am sure those alternatives will work out well.

Their prices seemed competitive and fair, selection seemed to be appropriate, and I could not be much happier with the distance from my house. I...
