Ironically ended up at this shop after jumping off the highway to look for coffee not donuts. The place seemed a lil strange at first (older exterior and interior, 80's tv with Christian ministry on full blast, cluttered lil shop..) Afterward my husband and I were sooooo glad both gas stations were out of coffee and we ended up here!! We ordered 2 large coffees and because it was a donut shop and around 10am it seemed destined to also get a donut ;). I ordered a Bavarian cream filled (filled upon order!) and my husband a chocolate raised. The coffee was much better than we would have gotten from a gas station and the donuts were BEST I've ever had!! Perfectly crisp and airy; instantly took me back to my childhood. Since I live nowhere near this place I thought it only right to at least review it for the people who have not been here to tell them what they are missing out on.
Also, read other reviews while here about the gentleman at the counter and allthough he was very polite to us and actually more than accommodating..I can absolutely see how easy it would be for him to get tempermental and flustered if it were any busier or if we were in any kind of rush. Suggestion: If you are Christian dont judge and pray for him if he's having a bad day..If you aren't.. Maybe if you go in with the mentality that you are walking into the donut version of the soup kitchen from Seinfeld (AMAZING product with varying...
Read moreI don't eat Donuts very often and most of the time I do, I end up disappointed. So I don't know where to start when looking for a new place to try. This time I decided to simply pick a Mom and Pop Shop to at least be benefiting a small local business. But I am so glad I decided to do that bc I just found my new favorite Donut shop.
As for my experience, I was very impressed with the kind, attentive, and joy filled service I got. When I first walked in the owner yelled from the back to greet me, as I'm sure he had his hands tied up back there. But this was a great first impression. Just showing he cares, even before he can make his way to me. When he made his way up front he was very joyful and helpful. He even made me try a freshly made donut before I bought my half dozen. It literally melted in my mouth. He made a funny joke about how you don't need your dentures in to eat these donuts lol. He was right. These Donuts were very good, very fluffy, and had the right balance of everything. I'm glad I decided to stop somewhere near home today, so now this can be my go to place. Not just for donuts but for breakfast burritos too. I would gladly patronize this place purely for the wonderful service and to support this family's business. But I'll also be patronizing it because the donuts are awesome. Definitely a place...
Read moreProbably the rudest customer service I've ever receive. I walked in and expressed that I was pretty excited to try his doughnuts out as I drove by this place everyday. Just a blank stare and "....k...". Oh well not too talkative. I said I wanted a dozen. As I'm asking for specific ones another guest walks in and he shouts "I'll be with you when I can!...this might take a few minutes...". Oh, sorry for buying a dozen of your doughnuts...I didn't mean to inconvenience you. Then I ask for the two remaining eclair bars. He says do you want raspberry or cream? I said I'll take both to which he sighs really loudly and says "No! What do you want in them?" I quickly said cream. He takes them back and fills them. How the hell would I know you fill them in the moment? I've never once been to a doughnut shop that does that. Shaking his head the whole time like I'm annoying him by patronizing his business. I hope he enjoys it while it lasts because I know I'm not the only person to have been in there once only to swear I'll never step foot in that dump again. Also, the doughnuts are nothing special.
Edit: I was wrong. These doughnuts are delicious. Which is a shame because his awful attitude is going to ruin this for him. I kinda want to tell him to his face. Just so I can keep buying...
