It seems as if all they care about is $$$
I contacted this business because I was referred to them by the leasing office of a mobile park home of a patient I was visiting. (I am home health caregiver) The elderly lady who is my patient lives alone, is hard of hearing and has a barely functioning cell phone. During my visit with her she mentioned that her stove was on and had been on since the morning as she could not get it to turn off (mind you she has a very old stovetop, the knobs barely work and it is very rusted), I checked the stove and yes two of the front burners were on radiating with heat. I tried to see if I could turn them off with the knobs but again it is a very old stovetop and the knobs are rusty, she said there is a breaker box in one of the back rooms and maybe we can flick the switch to turn it off that way. We did, gave it about a minute or so, I went to check back on the stove one of the burners wasnāt hot but the other still felt like it was on. Thatās when I decided to call the leasing office of the mobile park she lives in, they were no help to me unfortunately and thatās when they told me to reach out to this business. I did, I explained everything to the man on the phone which he tried guiding me on what to do which I did all I could do, he stated they were busy and couldnāt get anyone out until the next day. I thought that was upsetting especially since itās a potential fire hazard and with the condition of the elderly lady. I had told him I did what I could but there was not much I could do, itās an old stovetop and I donāt feel comfortable messing around with stuff and potentially getting hurt I just wanted someone to come out and check to make sure her stove was not on because I did not want to leave my patient alone in her home with a stove on. The man just kept saying that if they send somebody out for service itās a $129 fee.
While I understand that this a business and they need to make their money, I felt it was a bit unfair and disappointing as I was not looking for someone to fix the stovetop, simply just to check and make sure her stovetop was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Hansen's because I was hoping to get off cheep on a washing machine. I was wrong. My biggest mistake, aside from going there in the first place, was not listening to the little voice in my head telling me that saving 50 or 60 dollars was not worth it. I mean, 325 dollars for a used machine? Silly me.
That was not the worst. When I got the machine hooked up it leaked. I was told it was "all checked out and ready to go", "we've been doing this for blah blah years". Empty rhetoric.
I called to complain and was told they would get someone there to fix it the next Monday.
Not good enough. I told them I wanted my money back. I was told to come in that next Monday.
I went in and after explaining my position I was faced with three surly and scowling appliance guys. Warm and friendly went out the window. I was told there would be a 10 percent restocking fee. I was told my card would not be refunded until the machine was picked up. They took my receipt. If had been smart I would have gotten something in writing. Oh well, again, silly me.
The machine was picked up that afternoon. My card was not refunded.
I disputed the charge. The dispute was denied based on Hansen's response, and because I had no receipt.
I filed a complaint with the BBB. Hansen's response was all I had to do was come back in. By now I refused to set foot in that store again. They had my name, address, and number on file. No effort on their part was made to make this right.
Hansen's is apparently much better at this sort of thing than I am. My disadvantage stemmed from the fact that I tend to operate on good faith and the fact that saving a few bucks was really important to me.
I went to Home Depot and bought a new washing machine. All told, it cost me a just under 700 dollars if you include the money Hansen's took me for.
My advice, don't go to Hansen's!!
2/24/15 UPDATE
I did get all my money refunded. It only took two months, a charge dispute, and two BBB complaints before Hansen's gave me a call to set things to right. Better late than...
