Terrible company. I wanted to ask about how I could go about putting in an irrigation system. I'd been told in the past that they do that kind of project and desperately need to rehab my lawn. Still, there was no material in the sprinkler shop advertising how they did the process; no one was in the shop for a good ten minutes; the first person who helped said I needed some other expert after looking up my yard via maps; and then I was told the only option was to come check out the existing material. I asked about prices and was stonewalled. I get that you can't tell me a price until you see the project but what ballpark range of what people spend on irrigation projects for my size yard seemed a reasonable question.
When they showed up, they were late and didn't call to warn they would be late until well after my appointment. I don't mind being flexible, but a quick call would be nice so I don't cage my poor pup away for no reason.
Then my 'designer,' apparently mistaking my desire to know prices for spendthrift walks around, tells me a few things that will have to be done, sketches a few incoherent notes and mentions how much the gear will be for me to diy. No pitch was made for how much it is for them to do, which is what I told them I wanted at the start of the process.
Finally at the end of the process, I get told that the designer has to be paid, there on the spot, no credit cards accepted. This is the same person I talked to at the store, where there was a machine where I could be rung up and to my recollection, there was no mention of a cash fee being required. I wrote a check to the nursery and was told it had to be to the designer?
Now to be fair, I feel like getting passed from person to person may have created some confusion. And as everything was unclear as to what the process entailed, I was off guard and not prepared for needing to dictate the process. I've worked with other local companies to get work done and they have been excellent in explaining their processes ahead of time and verifying their fees along each step.
I am not calling out any names, because I double checked after the fact with another store and it is standard for the nursery chain to send designers to hit you up for cash for their personal fee. And when I called in and said I felt scammed, my designer was - while very insistent that I must have forgotten -actually really nice about letting me take back my check.
So, two stars because while I'm disappointed at how unprofessional this company is, my designer apparently was following corporate direction and was gracious at my affront. I was really excited and willing to spend a decent amount on this project, and amiable to be talked in to a few extra peices if the prices and process were reasonable. Instead I'll be reading reviews for local landscapers and keep away from this mess of...
Read moreThe day is Friday, April 7th, 2023. Moon nursery and I came to a fair and reasonable solution. It took some time, but thanks to the efforts of Moon management, I can finally say that everything is all right in my world. Thank you for staying on top of this.
Today is March 21st and i have yet to receive confirmation that Moon intends to take this matter serious. My final payment of $15,000 from the $20,000 bill is due in 60 days. I'm happy to pay that money to an attorney instead. Every time I pass by my house I have to look at 17 of 20 dead trees. Since we have been having trouble since day 1, Moon Valley is in breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing. The really sad fact is that these trees could have been saved, so I'm expecting replacements.
Today, March 3, 2023. It was a hard winter and the watering issues didn't help. Nevertheless, we have three beautiful trees that survived and Moon is still willing to work with us to repair the massive damage. I find it admirable and a sign of true 5 star customer service when a company is willing to go the distance to make things right.
BUYER BEWARE
Update: tody is August 24th and one of my Japanese Blueberry trees is yellow and dead. It didn't last 90 days. This was part of the irrigation problem below. Twenty trees were planted at $750 per tree. Nineteen are still holding strong, but Plant World once again refuses to do anything. because they couldn't highjack me for a warranty when I purchased.

The plants at Moon Valley are standard and you have other options when you buy, Plant World, Star, etc. I have spent just over $50,000 with the Moon Valley on west Charleston in Las Vegas. "Mondo" sold me $20,000 this year alone plus $2700 for irrigation. That price was supposed to include a new station - NOT a new valve. The difference being that a station allows for more water instead of a valve that steals existing water pressure from other plants.
When they left, I had a new valve and 4GPH drip heads on 50 new shrubs surrounding my oak tree. They told me to run the water 2x per day for 45 min or 300 gallons per day. They flooded the area, damaged other trees and when I reported the issue, Jenner, a manager from hell, told me that not only had their irrigation team done everything right, but they had no intention of adjusting the irrigation cost to reflect the actual work and pay for any damage.
Especially if you are thinking about large purchases, use another nursery. I don't intend to spend another dollar with Moon Valley and suggest you...
Read moreI waited to write this review because I thought the company could rectify their errors, but 6 weeks out I am still disappointed. I picked out five star jasmine plants with a representative Viven to replace my old, dying shrubs at a cost of $299 “delivered and planted” each. Vivien placed a pink tag on each of the ones I picked out and wrote my name on them. When check out time came, all of a sudden there was a $249 delivery and planting fee and a $375 warranty. I reluctantly (read: stupidly) paid these fees. I was assured that this would mean my old shrubs would be removed and the new ones planted. Well, just before delivery I was told via phone that I was responsible for uprooting my old plants but that they would be removed from my yard. I pulled them all out by hand myself. When delivery time came, they were late and I had to leave for work before the job finished. I spoke with the delivery guy and he promised me he would take my old shrubs away. He didn’t. He left them there in my yard and his crew made a mess. They planted sick-appearing vines on BROKEN trellises (not the ones I picked out and paid for) and one promptly started to die within a week. It’s a complete eyesore. They even backfilled the narrow holes new planting holes with rocks and my sandy clay dirt and not topsoil but they dis throw a couple handfuls of topsoil on top. I had to arrange disposal of the old, dead shrubs on my own.
I have been speaking with the manager and all he can offer is to bring another replacement under my purchased warranty when the crew “is in my neighborhood” more than a month out. They only deliver one day per week, which is a day I cannot be home. Now they’re saying 2 weeks and now a second plant is looking unhealthy when they should be starting to push new growth. None have any new growth. I have been watering exactly as instructed.
Basically, they ripped me off, charged me extra, didn’t fulfill their promises, gave me the bottom of the barrel (diseased) plants, and made me do half of the work. They ended up ripping out my irrigation instead of offering to help. I was told “otherwise it’s an extra fee.”
Just get your trees somewhere else and plant them yourself. It will save you a lot of time and money. You can buy star jasmine online on a major website and they will actually deliver...
