We usually go to the West Flamingo and Decatur location . I haven't been to this one in years because of past experiences . Well today we decided to give this one a shot again since we were in the area , wrong decision . We noticed they added a store to the restaurant and we though they must have improved since they look like they are trying a little harder . We were seated right away and they were about half full .
The waiter seemed either a little new or a little overwhelmed , but again it wasn't terribly busy . He took our drink order and later came for our food order . When he delivered our food , my daughter in law had asked for onion rings instead of french fries and her plate of course had french fries on it . She told him and said she was hungry and didn't want to wait for the onion rings , so she would just eat the fries . She got the Bacon Cheeseburger .
My son had the Chicken Fajitas and they were not very good at all and the skillet it was served on wasn't even very hot . The chicken was kind of plain with little to no seasoning , the peppers and onions were a little overcooked and actually looked a little old , the beans were okay and the rice was bland . He asked for Spicy Salsa and the waiter said it was Spicy . Well it was bland and no kick , so not spicy at all .
I had the Bbq Ranch House Burger . The burger was big and pretty good . The fries were lacking though . I should have also asked for Onion Rings . The burger had 2 good sized pieces of bacon , 2 onion rings were good , and the bbq sauce was not bad . Myself and my daughter in law ran out of soda since the waiter never came back to check on us and we had to flag down the bus boy to get us refills . The waiter never even came by to bring us the check !
My daughter in law went to the front and spoke to who she thought was a manager to get our check and let him know we were not pleased with the food or service . He was not the manager and he said he would send the waiter over . Well , we waited and he still never showed up . We went to the register and told them we hadn't received our check and wanted to pay for our food and leave . The cashier went to find him and he brought the check and said " I didn't charge you for the Onion Rings . " We never got the Onion Rings !
The cashier told us the Manager wasn't in and we could come back the next day . This was on Saturday , April 1st . The cashier had asked the Acting Supervisor to come and speak with us , but they never showed up ! We paid and departed . I will never come back to this location and no I didn't call the manager the next day . $50 we could have spent somewhere else . We should have just waited and went to the West Flamingo and South Decatur location . I have never had a problem at...
Read moreYou were seated very quickly and that was wonderful. A hostess was so sweet and pleasant not was a great experience . Young lady who got our drinks we thought was going to be our waitress I would have been happier with her being our waitress she was so pleasant and sweet. This other lady came up should be our waitress I complimented her on her bracelets and I slightly touch them she went ballistic having a cow that I touched them explaining to me how that is inappropriate and how I should never touch people's jewelry yada yada yada and was just so angry and rude and disrespectful to me and that is what sent me off to have a very bad experience the rest of the time. And breakfast arrived I ordered the corned beef hash with a half of a pound of corned beef skillet I asked for hash browns instead of the breakfast potatoes I got breakfast potatoes I did not get a half a pound of corned beef hash and I got three long hairs. I had to sit a long time waiting for her to finally come back when she finally come back she goes oh oh no and she took it back and I had to wait for my breakfast to arrive and which either was even less hash in my breakfast My husband would not let me send it back so that I could get more hash so definitely I did not get my half a pound of corned beef hash still with the wrong potatoes in my skillet My breakfast was definitely not what I ordered there was no discount on our breakfast at all even though there was a definite mistake we were charged full price for their mistake this was so not cool to me I'd worked in customer service a long time you always offer some type of discount when there was a mistake on their part especially three hairs and they look like they could have been her hair cuz she had pretty long hair even though it was up. This was just a truly unhappy experience anyway I don't know if I would go back if so I did not want to be served by her and I would probably not order the corned beef hash skillet which was supposed to have a half a pound of corned beef in it okay this is my rant about blueberry Hill and their food and...
Read moreI was seated nearly right away and from the person running the register to my server everyone was friendly, prompt, and accommodating. I ordered a strawberry milkshake, iced tea, the roast turkey dinner, and a slice of plain cheesecake and everything arrived just as ordered. Instead of the salad I opted for the chicken and vegetable soup that came with the turkey dinner and I was very pleased with my choice. It was simple and delicious and felt all nostalgic.
Now that's not to say there weren't mediocrities about the food, but I didn't come here for a gourmet dining experience, I wanted comfort food on a plate in huge portions.
What were the mediocrities, you ask? Well, my friend, let me expound. The vegetables in the soup were from a frozen mix. The gravy smothering everything on my turkey dinner was pretty much the only salt content, and that was fortunate. The white turkey meat was a little dry and chewy. The celery in the stuffing was pretty crunchy and still tasted like celery. The steamed broccoli was barely steamed and quite bland, oh, and there was one lonely cauliflower floret just as crunchy as its broccoli friends. The milkshake tasted like ice cream and strawberry syrup.
Now lest you think that list meant things didn't taste good, let me assure you that they did. It tasted like uncomplicated, reliable diner food and that's exactly what I wanted. It was simple, hearty fare that tasted pleasant.
With oldies from the 50's playing from the speaker above my head and something completely different in the background it felt like a funny mix between an old-style diner and a chain breakfast place, in a good way, of course. It was a pretty chilly, likely because spending almost 8 hours at the pool in 98 degree weather produced a lovely little reddish hue across my shoulders and chest and a skin sensitivity to a/c, but the soup and warm meal took most of the chill off.
So yeah, that's my story. I ate a lot and was happy about it. I'll revisit. Also, there's a 2% surcharge if you're paying with a...
