While the floor has been renovated which is a nice touch, this rink still is not worth going to. No headphones are allowed so youāre subjected to one type of music.
You canāt bring in water bottles and they search every bag you have. It feels like youāre stepping into jail.
Imagine going to the gym and someone takes your water bottle. A lot of people go skating for exercise and to deny something so simple as access to water, (they donāt even have a water fountain as far as Iām aware) I canāt support this place again, and I will recommend as many people as possible to not go here.
There are better rinks that donāt limit you on bringing in water or headphones. The staff isnāt that friendly, either. It feels like youāre always walking on egg shells talking to them.
Edit to response: I have been to over 2 dozen rinks and only 2 of them (Laurel, Lanham) have these type of rules. Iāve never seen any accidents caused by headphone usage. And even if there is - all skaters know to assume risk skating. Not you to dictate what fun skating looks like. Even on adult night (when 95% are advanced skaters) this rule is in play - so itās not about safety.
In addition, when you remove everyoneās ability to jam to their own vibe, you essentially also remove uniqueness because they have to conform to the go go music beat being blasted, which again - I donāt see how music being blasted super loud is different from being able to listen to your own music, you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went with a small group including 4 elementary school age kids. We had a blast! Parking was easy, the lot was fairly large and we found a spot quickly. The music was a touch loud, but great to skate to (its mostly mostly hip hop, so if this doesnt float your boat, you may want to consider other things). We rented the skating aides for the kids, they were an additional $5 per kid, but it was well worth it. It was pretty busy, but not so busy that we couldn't skate. The skill levels of the people skating varied, but there was generally a very friendly vibe about the place. Many people checking on those that fell and helping the kids regardless of whose they were. The people that worked there were very friendly and engaging as well. The rink ref was on her game, but polite about violations. The floor was in OK shape. I read other people had issues with it, but for the slower skating that we were doing it wasn't an issue. The place was a little run down/dated, but it didnt have an impact on us having fun. We would certainly go back and if you are looking for a throw back activity would recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGenuinely so disappointed with this rink. They've been nothing but frustrating with monthly private events I've been attending. They've been consistently late to starting multiple times. Had to wait outside for almost an hour last time with my poor friends birthday cake. They were FINALLY on time today... for an event... that we're paying for?? Bare minimum? On top of complaining about our attendance when they're the ones who have been starting 45 to 1 and 1/2 hours late! People are leaving, no one wants to wait in the parking lot! Mind you there's at least 50 people here right now, so our attendance certainly is not an issue. However even being on time today they've been needlessly rude, bless the poor woman working multiple counters at once she is so sweet. They've been playing the same song over and over despite people asking to change it. Really not wanting to come back, why would I want to support a business who can't provide the bare minimum of service, or at least pretend to care. We're paying for an event, please give us the service we're paying for. I just wanna skate and...
