Ami's Salon & Spa — Local services in Lawrence Township

I went in here for the first time last week after reading all the great reviews and had the most traumatising experience.

I went in for a haircut and root touch up. While Ami had tried to explain the process to me beforehand, when she got to the haircut she was on a call and multitasking. I told her I am not comfortable w a shorter length and she ridiculed me by saying “I have to cut this much” and just chopped them. More so, my layers are uneven, which I realized later because she never showed me a mirror for the back hair. Not the worst things of all - but she used a tong to curl my hair, after a I requested for a regular I turn blow dry and burnt my ear without realizing because she was still multitasking.

I have been styling and getting my hair done every month in Manhattan and have never been this disappointed, I nearly cried at the end and just wanted to leave asap. I tried to say more about how my length is kind of short now, but she hardly wanted to listen and put so much hairspray into my hair after I told her I don’t use hairspray ever and I style my hair enough to know I don’t need hair spray to hold my styling.

I can understand that she is a hairstylist and is a professional, but it it’s important to also listen to what your customer wants.

I paid in full, with a 20% tip because I know she worked hard, but I felt with the saddest face and got home to realize after a headwash my length is uneven and my layers are too thick and it is overall making me look was worse than I looked at the salon.

I don’t think I’ll go back or recommend this place to anyone who is too trusting, because I was trusting of her process and didn’t get a chance to speak my mind as she ridiculed me or was just on the phone.

This was quite literally the worst experience I have ever had at a salon. I visited for the first time on Friday (10/22/23) around 11 am. I did not catch the name of the lady who took care of me, but she referred to herself as the “manager”. I told her I wanted a full face wax, and eyebrows and upper lips threaded. She made me wait 10 minutes while she cleaned the salon. Then, she took me in and asked if it was okay if she talked on the phone while doing my services. I didn’t mind, however she was so concentrated on her phone conversation that she forgot what services I was getting done and I had to remind her two more times. I noticed she was going extremely fast during my face wax. She was not properly allowing the wax to cool before putting it on my face, she was not paying attention to detail, etc. a service that usually takes 25 minutes took her less than 5 minutes. Then, an appointment walked in and she told the lady to wait. The lady waited and then complained once or twice that she had to wait, rightfully so. This caused her to rush even more. I wish she had just said she could not accommodate me because of the appointment, rather than give me the services she did.Then she did my eyebrows and upper lips in under 2 minutes. I checked in the mirror and told her that she missed so many hairs. She went back once more and then told me that the hairs were “ingrowns” and were not coming out. I had not gotten my eyebrows done in about a month so there was no way they were ingrowns. At the end, she had the audacity to say laugh and “wow your face is so red!” I was so angry and fed up that I paid and left. Upon leaving, I noticed that she had burned me in 3 spots, cut me in a few spots (eyebrows and cheeks), and had left behind so much hair. I am extremely disappointed and would never ever return nor...

I came here for the first time and it will also be my last time. When I walked in, the lady working (who I assume is the owner), was coloring someone’s hair and told me she will be with me after she completes coloring the other clients hair. I waited, and when she was ready for me, I told her I like to keep my eyebrows thick. She not only made my eyebrows way thinner than I have ever gotten them, but she accidentally threaded off too much of a chunk of my left eyebrow, so now my eyebrows look completely different from each other and my left eyebrow looks like it has a huge bald spot in it. She was also so aggressive, I have cuts all over my eyebrows. After she was done, she literally just said “done” and walked away. I’ve been getting my eyebrows threaded for over 20 years now. When the threading is complete, you are supposed to be handed a tissue to wipe off the hairs that fell on your face, and the beautician will normally hold a mirror to your face and make sure you are happy. This lady literally just walked away, no tissue, nothing. I showed her how she butchered my eyebrows, and she said she can fix it by threading more of my right eyebrow to match the botched left eyebrow! I told her absolutely not and that will only make my eyebrows even thinner and worse. All she said was “sorry, but if you comb your eyebrow done, you can’t tell”. I will NEVER return to this place. The unprofessionalism and horrible service I received is something I have never experienced in my 20+ years of getting my eyebrows threaded, which is normally an easy thing to do, except for this lady. There are so many other amazing salons in the area who will actually do a great job, stay away from this salon if you want...
