I joined this gym after being a long time LA fitness member because it was closer to home. Itās not a big gym but I figured I would give it a go. Itās more expensive then I was paying at LA but I figured itās ok cause Iāll save on driving time. I do miss having more equipment and the classes offered at LA are better and happen more often..... I was still getting a feel for Golds gym when after a couple of months Covid-19 shut everything down including the gym yet I was charged Aprilās membership but the gym was closed. I tried many, many, many, times to call as did my husband and got a voicemail that said to email them. The email they gave on the recording would bounce back however I had an email from when I signed up so I emailed them there with no reply. After many failed attempts to contact them via phone and email I just figured it was a loss. I called on May 28 to freeze my account and spoke with Joan Ferrante. She said we were able to freeze the account for three months but since the payment for May was pending there is nothing she could do about the payment but her delivery was horribly rude, unprofessional and straight nasty when all that was being asked is if there is anyway we could get out money back. āYou canāt call me the day of and expect me to help youā lol I donāt understand why we the ācustomersā canāt call you the day of asking for help? Makes no sense. Even if there is nothing that can be done (which is doubtful cause this gym seems like they swindle you money at any cost) why not relay the message with some professionalism, tact and class.... well I moved on to the next subject that I had been charged for a month they were closed after many attempts to contact them and she claimed they were there taking calls 8 hours a day which is a down right LIE. She was almost insinuating that I hadnāt tried contacting them. I pulled out the email and dates and told her when I had emailed them and called them and she claimed that no one received a call or email.... Iāve worked in customer service for YEARS and Joan is exactly what they teach you not to be like when you are working in the customer service field. Sheās so rude and unprofessional!!..... look all in all even without this Covid situation they over charge and charge a maintenance fee 2x a year. LA fitness doesnāt charge that at all and other gyms only charge this fee once a year.... this gym isnāt even modern or big and doesnāt offer what other gyms do for it to be charging what they do. Donāt get yourself into a headache with the agreements (contract) or being over charged by a mediocre gym. I know now I would rather drive further for a better quality gym and better quality customer service where I know Iām not going to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhere do I begin with how horrible my experience was? Iāve been a patron of Goldās Gym on and off for the last 5 years. I had started attending with a member of my immediate family who had been an instructor at the Lawrenceville location for the better part of a decade. For the majority of these 5 years I had an absolutely great time, especially with the team in Lawrenceville. Recently I had been going to this Dacula location with a friend of mine. Management was generally decent for the few times Iāve went there earlier this year. Today, I had gotten around to finally working Goldās back into my schedule, and went to the same location with the same acquaintance. I wanted to attend with my 15 y/o brother (who has gone before to the LV location), and was fully prepared to shell out for two gym subscriptions. Upon arrival I was told I was unable to sign the waiver for him, despite being of adult age. Although I was disappointed, I decided it shouldnāt ruin my trip. I returned about half an hour later, without my brother. Because I felt that it wasnāt worth paying for a subscription just yet, I used my friends guest pass to sign in, something I had done without issue for the last five years. I was then promptly FOLLOWED into the bathroom by an employee who informed me that āthe guest pass isnāt under your name; youāll need to pay.ā Are you drop-dead serious? What is the point of a āguest passā then? Not only was I turned away once, but I was facing being kicked out a second time, for a service already paid for. I was clearly frustrated, which irritated the employee. He threatened to have his manager speak to me, to which I told him it was fine. I waited for the manager and questioned him on why their practice was inconsistent with other Golds locations, and their own location in the past. āYou have to follow the rulesā he said. I was absolutely dumbfounded. I have encountered no such rules at other gyms, let alone other golds locations for the last 10 years. I informed him he had just lost my business, and was jeered at as I walked out by the desk manager. I am utterly disgusted that their management would treat a returning customer, let alone family of a long-time instructor like this. Beware, and take your business to Lawrenceville instead. Youāll receive much...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am so glad I chose Gold's Gym to begin my health commitment to myself! I am morbidly obese, it's hard for me to admit this and begin a life change because it felt so overwhelming but I did and I chose to begin with a trainer with my family's encouragement; I had a lot a guilt about spending the money on this but it has helped me be accountable because of my trainer, Bebbie, she is great and I feel she really cares about me and my health and success. We talk about my diet which is also a big part of my journey. I have been in training almost 6 months and feel so much better physically, less arthritis joint and back pain, and lost over 30 pounds. I have a lot more to loose but this is the first time in my life I feel I can achieve my weight and health goals. What I love about Gold's Gym besides my trainer is when I come to the gym there is a diverse group of people and the employees are welcoming. I'm older, 55 yo and not pretty in tights so to speak, so I wear long shorts and tee shirt, and yet I'm comfortable there. They have so many different levels of equipment and I particularly love the cardio cinema, and can watch tv or virtual trails all over the world on the treadmills and bikes. You can people watch too:) I am excited to try one of the classes soon, may start with silver sneakers and work my way up. I've met some really nice people and see some friends and neighbors, too. They even have a smoothie bar open 24/7 and vending machines with healthy choices. I also love to end my workout with the sauna, which I thought I would never like. I can even shower and change from the Gym if needed. I have expirenced 2 other gyms before but can say that Gold's Gym has been the...
