I chose Stanton Optical while out of town as I knew there was one in Lawton for when I got home. As this an entirely different location, I won't go into detail on that specific location other than mentioning they prescribed the wrong prescription of contacts, which was what led me to going to the Lawton location 2 weeks later. That being said, both locations eye appointment procedures are the same. The company began "telehealth appointments" during COVID, but never went back to personal optometrist exams probably because price of outsourcing doctors outweighed the benefit of having an optometrist on sight. For those reading this review, the technicians do the initial tests and set up the eye equipment while the doctor, who was actually a "certified refractionist", NOT an optometrist and not an actual doctor by US standards, changes the lenses from their location electronically. At this location in Lawton, it took about 2 hours for the appointment, because of technological malfunctions. 4 or 5 different examiners popped up on the screen, but the name of the person they were supposed to see was the patient after me. The examiners couldn't do anything about it, because again.. virtual.
When I eventually got seen and given my prescription and trial pair of contacts, it felt off again and the technicians had me read the letter chart, to which I could technically SEE the 20/20 line, but it felt off. Concern dismissed, because again, no certified optometrist on site.. Not only did my astigmatism contact feel uncomfortable, but seeing at night and reading letters on screens were not like my glasses or previous contacts at all, I was seeing double vision at that point.
I had ordered contacts from the first location for 6 months, costing me 300 dollars. I returned to the Lawton location after the second prescription was done wrong, and the process was just overall bad at both locations and asked for a refund. I went to an actual optometrist down the road who not only did the appropriate tests, but also checked how the fit of the contacts were on my eye and when they didn't have the exact prescription for a sample pair, used a device to show me (with the contact in) what it would be when the correct pair comes in, and discussed a lot more about my eyes with me. Overall, a FAR better experience.
Maybe you'll have a better experience than me? But I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I know, personally. Maybe for ordering lense frames or contacts if you already have a prescription from a legitimate optometrist, but definitely not...

There may be a few positives in here but my guess is these are made-up reviews. I don't believe this place should be operating under the guise that this is a legitimate doctor-given eye exam. They only provide a glasses and contact prescription. None of my other eye health concerns were addressed. There were no questions about eye health from the doctor on screen. When it came time to check out, the tech didn't seem knowledgeable on how to use the insurance. She said I had to purchase glasses or contacts and couldn't just pay for the exam. I was told if I didn't purchase, then my exam fee would be much higher. I explained I only had an insurance copay and wouldn't be ordering contacts yet. Again, I couldn't get a straight answer on what my copay would be just for the exam. I explained I had trouble with that brand of contacts and wanted to try them out for a few days before ordering. Her manager finally "gave her permission" to just charge me for the exam. I'm not even sure my insurance was used. I was just ready to get out of there. Along with the unreasonable wait time, this was very frustrating. This was my third experience here and each time the wait time has been way too long. There was no one in the waiting area and only one person in an exam room and I still waited for 30 minutes. When I brought my son in last time they told me it would be cheaper not to use my insurance. Also, at the end of this visit I asked for a copy of my son's prescription, they then somehow couldn't print his prescription for me even though it was on their screen. Mind you, they had just printed and given me mine with my receipt after the exam fee debacle. I feel like they were holding his prescription "hostage" because they want us to purchase only from them. She said it would be sent in an email, which I have yet to receive. They are more worried about pushing product than they are about the customer's needs. ...

They tell me it will be 2 weeks. I ask if they can mail. The tech says yes for $10. I hand the lady a $10 bill. Sge puts it in an envelope marks on the front goes and puts it in a drawer. I call the day I got a text and let them know I will be in Lawton to pickup. I wasn't expecting a refund of my shipping. The lady on the phone looks me up and says yes you can pick them up and we are going to go ahead and refund your shipping. I thought thats cool. I get there the next day. They say oh we have no record of you paying for shipping. Do you have your receipt, well no I don't have my receipt I just drove 2 hours and noone said I needed to bring it I had already called ahead the day before. The lady kept repeating well no record of it so we don't know what to tell you. Then repeatedly kept asking if they were for a different order and over and over kept telling her no it was for this order. The two ladies were extremely rude. They said their Manager wasn't there and I would have to come back the next day. I live 2 hours away thats not possible. They kept looking at each other and laughing. Soyes they stole my $10, yes its my fault for not carrying all receipts with me for this business. But thats ok. I will definitely not be back. Someone there needed that $10 more than I did.
