I have recently moved into the neighborhood and I like Alsi and this is the closet one near me. Last night I went in and it was an older white lady looks to be in her mid 50s at the register. Every time I’ve come in here she has the nastiest attitude. At first I thought it was personal but they I seen her hand the person in front of me his change and it dropped on the floor and she did not acknowledge it or him never even said have a good day.
Then it was my turn and no greeting from her or anything just the same old nasty attitude. I had a $5 off coupon that came in the mail for me from this Aldi to welcome me to the neighborhood. The coupon came in pack of 3 and the last one I used ripped off the piece of barcode and was just advised to come to the register when I could use it and it’ll be no problem and that’s what I did last night. The prior times they took my coupon they used it and discarded it . This time she proceeds to scan my coupon and says half the barcode is gone so they cannot use it. I told her no I was advised to come to you all to use it. She then proceeds to scan it and it says already scanned. I asked if if it was already scanned and used why did t they discard it if that’s their procedure and it just started on the 13th and it’s the 14th. She then cuts me off and says she’ll get her manager and they’ll deal with it. Of course as a manager he had given her and immediate solution and got me out of store and she kept the coupon as she should have. My review on the woman with the consistent...
Read moreWe used to shop at Aldi in northern IN about 35 years ago. At that time they had the "no brand label" brand. Just plain white packaging with black text. Well, those are long gone. I had no expectation that they still used this packaging. My wife wanted to go there, I did not even know there was one close to us. We went on Saturday last.
If you have ever shopped at Aldi, you know the procedure, put a quarter in the cart so you put it back where you got it from. Bring your own bags, they will leave out empty boxes if you don't, so there is some pre-planning for the customer.
The store was clean, but I thought poorly organized. The biggest complaint is that the selection of products was very poor. Only 1 brand and size for canned corn for instance. I bought house brand bread, very inexpensive and much better than the "new" wonder bread recipe. One loaf of white bread, one of honey wheat. I usually buy Nature's Own honey wheat, which is almost $4 per loaf, at Aldi it was $1.79, the white bread was $1.37, I think. Both are very good.
I had no interaction with the staff but was "exploring" to see how easy it was to find what I wanted. As I said, poorly organized. The cashier was the best, most friendly, courteous and intelligent person I have even met. Since it was me, I guess it would be. All self check out. I will go back when I have more time and take a better look and will update this review. When shopping at such a low-price retailer, you must expect some differences between them and a full price,...
Read moreIf you've been to ALDI before, you know exactly what to expect. The staff here is same as at most -- mostly friendly, with only a few exceptions.
If you haven't been to ALDI before, you should know that it is a small, European-style, budget grocery store. It has limited selection, but prices are also consistently lower than the competition. They also have a constantly rotating stock of seasonal foods and non-grocery items such as power tools, garden items, or school supplies. You'll need to bring a quarter as a deposit to get a cart and you'll need to bring your own bags or plan to pay a small cost for the ones they have there.
We love ALDI because they have a decent selection at good prices and you can make it through the store quickly because it's so small. Counting off one star because their lines for check-out are often long and their produce and meat are often...
