I really, really wanted to like this place. The rustic, western decor was nice and the staff was pretty personable. Those are the reasons why I even bothered giving two stars. The food itself was less than stellar. The brisket tasted as if it was tossed in a pan, covered, then put in the oven to steam until cooked. There was absolutely no flavor, and the bark traditionally associated with smoked brisket was absent. The slices were so thin you could almost see through it. I suspect it's because it was baked/steamed in the oven which caused it to be chewy and hard to eat. The sliced turkey was also lacking. I was expecting a nice, smokey bite but was given a taste of thick-cut walmart deli meat. The ribs were hit or miss. Some were cooked beyond recognition, while others were perfect, tender, and had a nice bark. They offer two different sauces that I'm aware of. Both of the sauces are actually really good. I enjoyed them. They're both sweet, one with a spicy undertone to it. As far as the sides, I ordered a bean concoction with sliced jalapenos, onions, and tomatoes. That was decent with a little bit of spiciness to it. The coleslaw was lacking. It also tasted like pre-made slaw bought right off the shelf in Walmart. Overall, I'm disappointed in the quality of food from this "BBQ" restaurant. I'm glad I tried it with a 50% off coupon so my near $50 order wasn't quite that expensive. Unfortunately, I'm writing this review, not only as a warning to others, but as a reminder to myself...
Read moreOrdered online for delivery and all I can say is unbelievable how bad this place is. Had "ribs" and some turkey with their spicy Texas creamed corn and mac & cheese. When I picked up the order I sensed something was wrong; so light, I wondered if they had forgotten something.
However, the order was complete, it was the meat that appeared to be the problem. The turkey was tender and sliced very thin, but not a lot of smoke nor moisture to it. thank god for the bbq sauce. The "ribs" were on the far side of drier than a bone. Literally. I have had jerky more moist. These were CRISPY and desiccated to the point I wondered if they had been kept over from last week or if the cook failed to put enough water into the reconstitution of them from being freeze dried. If Dickey's had their sides, they would have no reason to be in business.
If you like a high priced, underwhelming experience for "bbq" and like crunchy meat, this is your place. Otherwise, I think there's a 7-11 with a bbq brisket sandwich in their cooler I can heat up in my microwave and be more satisfied. Thankfully, I wasted a gift card from work on this and not...
Read moreI needed to use ApplePay on my phone (because I didn’t have my wallet). So, I went to the register and paid first, for a 4” round BBQ sandwich.
The 1st employee forgets to tell the line workers to make the sandwich. So, I’m standing there forever waiting for my food.
I ask about my sandwich. They say, “What did you order?” I say never mind just give me a refund.
The 2nd employee goes to the cash register and stands there forever because he can’t figure out how to issue the refund (this isn’t my criticism of him). Then the 1st employee brings the sandwich to the register, tells me it’s free and apologizes for the trouble (a nice gesture that would have helped soothe the situation).
The 2nd employee grabs the sandwich and throws it in the trash behind him, and says, “No! I’ll give a refund”.
I had already been standing there an inordinate amount of time when he threw the sandwich in the trash, and he still has yet to process the refund. I tell them, “Just keep it!” and left.
Congratulations! You earned this review. P.S. They still haven’t issued the $8.65 refund (not...
