Came in for a screen replacement on 3/28. Since then my phone has been overheating when used for more than 15-20 minutes and periodically there are grainy white lines that appear all over the screen. At first Face ID also wasn’t working but that fixed itself after a few power cycles so I waited a few more days to see if the problems continued and they did. At first I submitted my info through the form on their website to see when I could bring my phone in to be looked at but never got a response. After a few days I decided to just stop by.
The guy who helped me was super friendly and at first said that it had to be a battery problem. He took it in to the back room for a couple of minutes and then came back and said something was wrong with the motherboard and that’s why my phone was overheating. He then recommended not putting any more money into my phone and just buying a new one. While I appreciate not being upsold, the whole situation just does not sit right with me. This phone has worked just fine up until this repair. I do a lot of mobile gaming and could play for HOURS on my phone without it overheating, but now it’s getting warm even as I’ve been typing this.
Out of curiosity I googled “iPhone overheating after screen replacement” and found MANY articles / posts about how overheating and even motherboard damage can happen if the repair person used a cheap replacement part, an incorrect part, or damaged / misaligned something during the repair. I’m just not buying that it’s a strange coincidence that my phone just so happened to start overheating on the same day RefurbKings replaced the battery. Part of why I chose to is store is because of the warranty they claim to have on their website. When I came back in I figured they would take the phone apart and visually inspect to see if something was damaged during the repair. I was not expecting them to dismiss it as not being their problem.
I hate posting negative reviews but if nothing can be done to resolve this from the store then maybe at least my experience could spare someone else the headache of going through the same thing. I’m just kicking myself for not taking this to the Apple Store to have the repair...
Read moreMy sister took my iphone7 plus to have the speaker replaced. They broke a board in my phone while changing my speaker! They told her they could fix it for $140 (it would have to be sent out to be fixed) & they wouldn’t charge me for the speaker!! Or She could replace the phone there for $500!! It wasn’t broken when She took it in. They’re motto of “your break it, we fix it” is a lie!! They broke my $800 phone & wouldn't make it right!! I want to make it perfectly CLEAR that my phone worked properly, I could make and receive calls and send/receive text messages...the only issue I had was the microphone.... I also want to make it CLEAR that the “manager” wanted to send the phone off to fix the broken mother board, which wasn’t broken in the beginning, and he said it would cost $140, they couldn’t fix it in the shop. Regardless of what apple has addressed, I wasn’t at Apple, and I was never told upon inspection of my phone it was a mother board problem, I was told they had accidentally broken A BOARD trying to replace the speaker/microphone!! The manager said “working on a phone was like going into the hospital sick, but while you’re there you have a heart attack, things break.” I hope no one else ever has this issue with you. Thank you for you response Refurb Kings, but your response wasn’t how it actually played out. I was under the impression that if I break something when I come into your store, I had to pay for it, I assumed it went both ways. Your manager admitted that “as we were trying to fix the speaker, we accidentally broke the board. But we aren’t gonna charge you for the speaker”. Well the speaker wasn’t replaced either, so he...
Read moreI took my MacBook up there on a Friday to get the battery replaced. I knew it was the weekend and they’d have to order the battery, so I figured it take a while. I called the next Thursday asking for an update. They had received the battery and replaced it. However, in the process, there was a cord in the midst of the innards of the MacBook. They explained it was a common problem as this model, they had to do extra work to get the battery out, and the cord is easily broken. Fine and dandy. They called Friday saying they’d replaced the cord and was ready. I picked it up Saturday. When I got home, I realized the backlight of the keyboard was wonkey. Off in some places, dim in others, and fine in other places. Tried to type in the password and I found the keyboard wasn’t working. Called and they said to bring it back. Took it back, unfortunately it was an hour till closed so I had to drop it off. They called Monday and said they’d fixed it. The cord is apparently very sensitive and if it’s moved in the wrong spot it apparently causes chaos. Picked it up yesterday, Wednesday, and all is fine! No charge for the cord repair and the keyboard was back in working order! Moral of the story, while it was a lengthy process, I still had a pleasant experience with them. The guys are all super kind, sweet, helpful and honest. If I have any more technical issues, they will for sure be who I take it to! There was a mistake made and they were quick to fix it! Thank you guys! Now I can carry on writing my novel with a MacBook that lasts more than an hour off...
