Mother passed away. My father and I decided to see if we can sell her old gold diamond rings and necklaces to help pay for bills. First time we went to the store, Brent's son looked at our jewelry and said we had really good pieces, but told us Brent had already left for the day and was the only one qualified to buy jewelry. Came back the following week and was told Brent is out of town and won't be back until next week. For the third visit, I called as soon as they opened to verify that Brent is there. Spoke with a rep that has seen me come in every visit asking for help selling, told me he was there and it was a "perfect" time to come in. I drove all the way out there once again. There was one customer, the rep, and Brent. Sales rep told me to wait a few minutes. I stood there awkwardly for about 30 minutes while he was just conversating with one customer a few feet away. He could've easily took a second to ask if he could help me with something or at least greet me. After being ignored that entire time, I kindly told the rep I'll be back another time and left. Decided to just send him a picture of our family jewels on Facebook and called the rep to ask him to check. He replied saying "Our estate case is full and we are not buying jewelry at this time." If that was the case, The employees could've informed me that anytime throughout my 3 visits! His son confirmed our pieces were authentic, of value, and that his dad would be interested. I believe I was profiled and discriminated against, based solely on my appearance once I finally met him. It was already hard enough deciding to part ways with my late mother's jewelry, but to have our time wasted, stressed with false hope for weeks...just to end up without any help is so...
Read moreFor generations my family has been loyal to Staats Jewelry. Even after moving out of state I would save any purchases or repair work for my return to Liberal. Recently I felt my loyalty was disrespected. I brought two "charms" in to be professionally attached. One charm was attached with a new sterling silver "o" ring. The second was attached with an old and tarnished, existing ring. First it looks tacky and second I felt the ring was compromised from several openings. Met with utter disgust the response was "it is fine, it is lasered shut." That didn't at all address that it will likely break directly across from the laser point, from the multi openings of the "o" ring. Now I am afraid to wear the bracelet, fearing the loss of the beloved charm (of my late husbands fingerprint.) I will be looking for a new, trustworthy jeweler. It will be hard, in my mind and heart, to replace Staats Jewelery, but a must do. Loyalty is no longer appreciated...
Read moreThis is a very typical small-town jewelry store. Very, very pretty items. I took my engagement ring into their shop for repair 2 days before Christmas. I was disappointed to be told it was going to be a couple of weeks for the repair, but in my sort of "Christmas miricle," the store called.like 3 hours later, and the repair was done! I really appreciate it more...
