If I could, I would give Upscale Rummage 10 stars! This place is truly amazing. Do you love thrifting? Do you think you've got your thrifting routine all worked out? Do you think you've got your line up of unmissable Chicago thrifts sorted? You are wrong... unless you've already been to Upscale Rummage already and this is your number #1 thrifting experience. No thrift store in Chicago gets even near the fabulousness of this place. It's huge but it is not filled with garbage. New and incredible stuff comes in every week! Great antique and modern furniture, light fixtures, books, records, clothes, jewelry, kitchenware, gardening, sport gears, textiles, rugs, mirrors and art... they also have a year-round Xmas shop and regular department discounts. This shop is also incredibly well curated. Items are very fairly priced too. Rene', the owner, and her army of charming helpers are a true delight. Always smiling and welcoming. We bought so much from this store. It has brought so much joy. We end up there almost every week and rarely leave empty handed. And the money goes to charity. I mean, what more do you want? This is the one and only thrift store in you need. Chicagoans, take a trip to Libertyville and learn how it's done. If you have not been to Upscale Rummage yet, you don't know what thrifting is...

You will only get good stuff if you have a connection to somebody who works there. The two stars are for the people who work there, very kind and helpful. That said, I have been there more then six times and as many other people have said a lot of the things are priced much higher than you would ever see them on facebook or even estate sales, but more importantly, most of the things on the floor are chipped damaged or not desirable reason or another. I recently met somebody who used to work there, and they clued me in on the why. Basically the people that work there get first dibs on anything that is donated. So most of the stuff that's really nice gets scooped-up by them or someone that they have a connection with. For example, this person had a few friends that were designers and would always call them to come and grab any of the more desirable pieces before they hit the floor. I understand that this is all to help charity, I just think it's rather a waste of time and you're gonna be have a lot more luck looking at Facebook marketplace or estate sales to find great pieces, the ones that end up on the floor here are often pretty beat up...

The greatest store with even better staff! Each item sold is absolutely beautiful! The mission is outstanding and the staff are beyond kind. I was in the store about 3-4 weeks ago and my daughter was playing with some vintage drink stirrers. I told a staff member how I used to play with vintage whistle drink stirrers that my grandma had and they brought back such a great memory for me. Fast forward to today, I walked in and when the owner saw me she said “she’s here!!” She brought me over to the front desk and behind the counter were a bag of whistle drink stirrers. They said they had gotten another donation in and held them for me knowing I’d be back. Brought a tear to my eye thinking how kind people are and they thought of me with just a simple thing that I mentioned so briefly. Their hearts are made of pure gold.
