After reading the reviews my son and I were very excited to go to this shop for the first time. It was not a good experience though. There were a lot of cards out on the floor and I was told by the kid working that they were not to be touched because his dad hadn’t looked at them yet. Why are they are on the floor then? There were some good cards there too. Also there were many good cards in the glass cases but the kid did not know the prices on them and when he tried to look them up either couldn’t find them or gave me a price that was way too much. Felt like I was being watched as well when I just wanted to look at the cards and packs/boxes to decide what I wanted. Mike is an honest, well-informed, professional proprietor who offers a wide variety of cards and autographed memorabilia. While the majority of his cards are from the current era, he has a nice selection of vintage cards as well, not to mention some sets. Recently, I even submitted some of my own vintage cards to him for grading at a very reasonable price, which is an added benefit. Moreover, he is very accessible, offering liberal shop hours during both week days and weekends. Finally, he’s not a robot but takes your phone calls, answers your questions, takes time to appreciate your own collection, and actively engages in sports conversation. I decided to start my venture into the sports memorabilia hobby. Took a ride over to What's Hot Cards & Collectibles to check out the store with no expectations as I was not sure what to expect. Needless to say this was a fantastic decision. I ended up being there for a couple hours speaking to both Mike and Denise who own the store as well as 2 others (unfortunately did not get their names). They were gracious and patient enough with me with any and all questions I had even if some were repeat questions. I appreciated Mike being straight forward with the pros and cons of the hobby right now as it gave me a better understanding of how it goes and how I should go about my time as a newbie to the hobby.
