I would avoid this place at all costs. I brought my xbox on Monday after it randomly wouldn't stay powered on, I would turn it on and it would power off shortly after. I called Kirk multiple times and never got an answer so I decided to show up in person as a walk-in. I was told he would do a free diagnosis and swap out parts that could be causing the issue, power supply & or hard drive. He took my name and number down and told me he would give me a call the following day to let me know what was wrong with it. A few days had passed and so I called Kirk Thursday morning and he said he planned on working on it that day and to call him back later in the day. I called him back that evening as he was "supposedly" working on it at that moment, he told me he put a new power supply in and that wasn't the issue, it was the motherboard. My options then were to come pick it up as the parts were worth more than the console and when I got there they were immediately trying to sell me on other stuff and try to take my xbox for "free scrap"
I left with a really bad feeling about that place and decided to go to Dial Up Games on O street to get a second opinion. I called very late and ended up going in at 7:20 Pm, 40 minutes before close. The second I walked in they believed it was the power supply and told me they would let me know in 20 minutes, before I even got home they called me and told me they put a new power supply and it would be ready in 20 minutes. They ended up staying open 15 minutes past close and talking with me while their technician was buttoning up my xbox and they are great people.
Needless to say keep all of your business away from Gear Up Electronics, I was lied too, he never took the power supply out because if he did the problem would have been resolved instantly, they will scam you and lie to your face to show you "other options" they conveniently have in their store. And after talking with some friends about the situation I've come to find out i'm not the first person to get screwed over by...
Read moreWonderful experiences and services offered by Kirk at Gear Up Electronics! Previously, I brought my gaming laptop in last year to have Kirk install a secondary SSD to my device. My 2024 Razer Blade 18 RTX 4090 had screws that could easily strip if not properly unscrewed. Kirk did an excellent job at handling this upgrade for me and provided not only professional but also meaningful advice and tips regarding electronics, brands to use when considering upgrading components and much more!
I recently bought parts to build a custom gaming PC. From my experiences and the service I received from Kirk at Gear Up, I knew he was the person to go to that I can trust to handle my build with care and expertise. Due to the value of the components, I am very careful about choosing who to go to when doing upgrades and builds. However, just from one experience at Gear Up with my laptop last year, my confidence and trust in Kirk at Gear Up Electronics was established immediately after. Kirk is the person I can trust to handle my electronics upgrades and builds.
I highly recommend Gear Up Electronics as the place to go to for any electronics services! Kirk is extremely knowledgeable, provides a professional but also friendly and welcoming atmosphere, as well as very reasonable prices. Not only have a met an awesome person, I now have my go-to place to handle my technology concerns: Gear Up Electronics! A++ 😁👍

Overall, working with Kirk has been a pleasant and rewarding experience. I learned a lot from him and appreciate that he allows me to be a part of my computer upgrade/building experience whether it is observing him work with the hardware or learning about tips on best practices.
Thank you Kirk for your services...
Read moreNight and day. That's the difference between the previous ownership management of Gear Up Electronics and the attitude of the business under new ownership with Kirk.
Out of the blue. I received a Facebook message sharing that he'd taken the business, seen this review and wanted to make it right. This alone speaks volumes.
This was not his mistake, was not his problem, but Kirk cared enough to want to make it right.
Thanks Kirk.
My experience here was horrible. I was lied to and my device was eventually stolen from me.I went in for a simple repair of my daughters iPod. After paying nearly $100 of non refundable money They told me it could not be fixed. For months they told me they would rebuild me one if they had another iPod turned into them. Every time I called, they told me it was on their bench waiting to be rebuilt. This went on for 6 plus months. I finally asked for my device back. They told me I had signed a paper that let them recycle it. This is not true. I signed no such thing.I could have at least used it to play music as it still worked if I had it on the docking station. Can't believe such liars and thieves are allowed to have a business.Hopefully more people will report their bad experiences and they will close their doors. Since this has happened to me, I have heard a lot of bad business about them. Do yourself a favor and go...
