2/28/24âFollowing my disappointing experience at the Preserve Spa, I must express my delight in discovering what I believe to be the finest establishment in Rhode Island. It is imperative to note that this spa operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, sauna access is not included in facial and massage treatments; it must be purchased separately. Now, onto my review: On a day unusually warm for the season, a whim seized me to spend the day enveloped in luxury at the spa. As an avid spa enthusiast, my quest for the perfect sauna experience has taken me far and wide, from the tranquil waters of cruise ships to the serene landscapes of land-based retreats. I've sought to replicate that otherworldly feeling of relaxation and rejuvenation in my own backyard. (New England ) Then, as if by fate, a new opportunity presented itself this year. Drawn in by tantalizing images and promising reviews, I found myself increasingly eager to indulge in this newfound sanctuary. I decided to seize the moment and embark on this adventure. Armed with caution from past experiences, I meticulously researched every detail to avoid any unwelcome surprises. Navigating my way through the bustling streets, I arrived at the spa around 11:30 am, greeted warmly by the staff. After passing through security, I received my designated bracelet, a symbol of entry into this oasis of tranquility. As I made my way to the changing rooms, I observed the peaceful surroundings. Equipped with robe, towels, and locker key attached to my bracelet after registration , I prepared for my journey into relaxation. Following the rules of no barefoot walking, I slipped into my own flip-flops and proceeded to explore the array of saunas and whirlpools, each offering its own unique allure. You can buy flip flops if you needed . The restaurant, aptly named Hanna, provided a welcome respite, with its array of healthy options and delectable Korean dishes. Savoring a cup of ginger tea with lemon and indulging in veggie kimbap, I relished every bite, knowing there were still hours of bliss ahead. The heated lounge chairs beckoned, their soft cushions inviting me to linger a while longer. Here, amidst the soothing spa music and dimly lit ambiance, I found myself transported to a state of utter tranquility As I made my way to the changing rooms, I observed the peaceful surroundings. Within the tranquil confines of the spa, an array of saunas beckoned, each promising its own unique experience. However, one sauna, the steam sauna, lay dormant, its absence duly noted by a conspicuous sign at the front desk. Among the spa's offerings were three small pools, each varying in temperature. One pool sent shivers down my spine with its icy chill, while another offered a moderate reprieve from the heat, and the third, a steaming oasis of warmth, invited relaxation. I watched with intrigue as two daring souls plunged into the cold pool, their expressions mirroring a blend of shock and exhilaration. Ah, the joys of visiting a spa nestled within the bustling confines of a casino! It's like stepping into a world where relaxation meets taxation. Politics! In this high tech era where advancements in technology have blurred the lines between reality and virtuality, even the most serene sanctuaries are not immune to the intrusion of digital devices. Yet, despite clear directives against it, clients persist in flashing their cellphones. there are always those who choose to disobey, their defiance a testament to the arrogance of the human spirit.I am left to ponder how management will address this breach of etiquette. Confrontation in such tranquil environs could easily escalate into conflicts of epic proportions, jeopardizing the very essence of our sanctuary. These individuals love thrust employees into uncomfortable predicaments. To the patrons of Spalight, I offer a simple plea: Be respectful of others, for in the age of digital intrusion, even the smallest transgressions can have profound consequences on the collective harmony of our...
Read moreWhere do I begin? Me and my friend planned out a nice relaxing spa day and wanted to check out this location as it has been raved about. It was a spa day from hell. Below I have compiled fact based things that occurred during my time there 10/9/23. Just for preference I am no spa beginner, I go to a spa every 2/3 months.
Upon entry we were not given a run down on how the spa works or the day pass. We were given robes without being asked our sizes. I had to ask for my size, no slippers were offered or given. Later on I saw someone wearing some, they told me it was an additional cost which is fire however they were never offered to begin with. My friend and I sat there waiting for someone to usher us to where we should change/begin the experience. No one ever came and we had to figure it out ourselves. Again, when I went to ask and pay for my slippers I saw the front desk staff giving a run down on how the spa experience was going to go. Funny because I had to overhear that conversation to even figure out where anything was.
The changing area/locker room. The structure of it doesn't make sense. The changing stalls are mixed in with the toilets which was weird, felt more like an airport bathroom more than anything. There was one area big enough for one person that had a curtain to change. There were towels and water just thrown on the floor. Hence why I was so adamant about the slippers in the beginning. If you're a frequent spa goer then you know that's the standard. At this point we're not even 10 minutes into this debacle. As you can imagine we try to still make the best of the situation so we go to book our services back at the front.
**The ONLY positive thing we experienced was our facials with Ariana 10/10. She was professional and nice. Hydration facial 10/10.
The water experience. There was NO SPA ETIQUETTE. Women were taking full nude showers. The showers aren't private nor should they be if you follow the rules. I tripled checked the website. This spa does not allow anyone under the age of 14 years old. 15-17 STILL MINORS are allowed to utilize this spa. With that being said you see how problematic women being naked in a public spa area is? Not to mention there are cameras in said public area. The website says to wear a swimsuit robes will be provided. No where on the website or on location does it mention nudity. My friend and I witnessed nudity in the pool area in front of a minor, in the showers, and there were full nude women inside the pool. My friend and I wanted no parts once we saw that.
More nudity inside the sauna area. In the Himalayan salt sauna. Full on nude women (this is co ed).
The noise level. There was no such thing in this spa as being library quiet. You could hear how loud folks were from the waiting area. There are SIGNS everywhere about being quiet but due to lack of enforcement of the rules/ policy it was a free for all. The cherry on top was people being on speaker phone having full fledged conversations in the sauna area and full on chanting. I have video proof as well of said chanting because I could not take it anymore.
My food that I purchased was stolen. My buzzer never went off after waiting over 30 minutes. I went up to the counter and they apologized but there is no accountability system in place. SAME THING happened to my friend. Most items on the menu were sold out. Food was 5/10 at best. You are better off going to the casino side for a better meal choice especially for the price.
The front desk young lady. She was very unprofessional; she was gossiping on the work floor about customers. This place between the staff and the patrons -10 out of 10. No professionalism, decorum, etiquette, and simply no home training for that matter.
The best way to describe this establishment is unhygienic, loud, and overpriced. My friend paid $311 I paid $296 (I did NOT tip) They literally only had ONE wrap left during my treatment; I'm a double d cup. So again that went even further into the lack of cleanliness and...
Read moreWent once, will never go again. It was far from a relaxing experience. Upon arrival, myself and 3 of my girlfriends were having trouble getting checked in. Once figured out, we headed into the very small locker room to change. We were crammed in with a large bachelorette party all stepping over one another and waiting around in order to get changed and lock our belongings up. There is no space to move, and you will be waiting to do just about everything.
Once in our swimsuits and robes, we entered the bathhouse. We each had an appointment to get a body scrub. We werenât given any direction on what to do or expect or how to utilize anything in the spa. We got into the hot tub and the staff member giving the body scrubs (late 50âs) came out in a sheer bra and swim bottoms. That same staff member came out and told the entire bathhouse to be quiet by taking as sign stating their noise policy and tapping it on the ground until she had everyoneâs attention lol. Awkward⌠Anyway, she took my friend into a sectioned off area (which you can see right through) and had her get completely naked with about 10 -15 strangers whom were able to see her get her services done.
I also didnât like how many people were allowed in the spa at once. It caused a lot of frustration and confusion. Our robes were all piled together on the minimal hooks they provide in the bathhouse to hang your robes on which led to everyone having to put on a robe that someone else was wearing.
Needless to say we were in shock of the lack of privacy and warning given to us. The rest of my group went straight to the desk to change our appointments to Swedish massage as we did not want to be naked in a bath house being scrubbed down in front of strangers in a bright and loud environment. My friends and I got our massages and all came out feeling the same..hurt! The masseuse was rough and lacked skill. I could tell she just wanted to get me in and out. I spoke up politely, the pressure changed but the âtechniqueâ stayed the same. We all woke up complaining of pain the next morning. The masseuse also made me pay immediately after my massage while I was still on the table before even getting dressed and then proceeded to stand over me and watch me tip. It was extremely uncomfortable and off putting, yet I tipped above 20%.
The food was good, but not good enough to be as expensive as it is. When we went to clean our trays off..my friend who cleared her plate first, put her leftovers in the trash and the guy behind the counter was visibly upset and asked us to bring our trays to himâŚthen we saw the sign about not throwing the food in the trashâŚweird. Really hope theyâre not recycling food to other guests đŞ.
I really didnât like not knowing weâd be barefoot in a place that doesnât have staff cleaning up robes, water, and other messes around the spa. I would like to have known what the alternative is to being barefoot as they make you take your shoes off and put them in plastic bags before going through the gates. Also, the website says to wear a bathing suit..it doesnât say anything about nudity which there sure was. So prepare yourself and your group for that.
Overall, itâs priced very high for so little. We were sent in to figure everything out on our own. It wasnât relaxing. It was loud. The lights are turned up so bright and the aesthetic in itself is very basic. No water features or plants. No ambiance or decor. No staff walking around to answer questions or keep things in order/clean. Not even signs outside of the different experiences to explain how to do it or why itâs good for your body. Itâs very bland and boring. I have zero interest in returning but I wanted to share my experience to help others from wasting their money and having regrets.
Bodi Spa in Newport/Providence is a better alternative to this type of spa experience as you are given the opposite experience to Spa Light. If youâre looking for great hospitality and a peaceful experience worth your money, you can stay overnight at Mirbeau Spa in...
