It's pleasant to work with the cabinet designer. However, the whole process is painful. Long story short - if you want to wait for 5 months and have no problem to manage the logistic details, go ahead. Today is December 3rd 2021 and I only got partial delivery. I ordered Urban Effects Cabinets and made a full payment in July. The lead time was communicated as 10-12 weeks. The first delivery was made in Oct. The store and the driver told me my order was completed. In November, when my contractor began the installation and found out many cabinets were missing, and one pantry was totally wrong (it was another customer's order, and it came with a damaged corner.) My designer at Cabinet Direct was surprised as no one told her either there were backordered items. She was very kind and contacted Urban Effects manager right away. This was 3 days before Thanksgiving. (yes I had no kitchen for Thanksgiving). After Thanksgiving, Urban Effects arranged a 2nd delivery, but their warehouse told me to wait for 2 weeks for a delivery which would be mid of December. The warehouse is only 5 miles from my home! And that means I would have no kitchen for Christmas as well, because the counter top can't be ordered until all cabinets are installed. So I had to ask my designer to help again. She was very helpful and got me an earlier delivery date for December 4th (tomorrow). She told me all backordered items had been completed except the wrong pantry that will take time to be made, and no one knows when it will be done. This time I wouldn't trust any of them so I requested a packing slip. Cabinet Direct customer service took two days and emailed me the list finally on Dec 3rd, but I found again, one cabinet is missing. It appears the customer service didn't check the list before they made the statement that my order has been completed, because she admitted she didn't know. She asked me to go back to my designer and ask my designer to contact Urban Effects again, while knowing my designer took two days off. Tomorrow will be the 2nd delivery day. I will keep fingers crossed. I doubt I would have a kitchen for Christmas either. None of my friends believed I placed the order in July, and I chose Urban Effects because its plant is in Canada, not in China. So the ocean freight has no impact on it at all. It is just an poorly managed manufacturer. By the way, the quality is disappointing as well. I thought I paid for the maple wood. Only the doors are. The frame and everything else are powered boards with a thin veneer. The wrong pantry has a strong solvent odor so I have to keep the door closed. I still like the style and color, but who knows...
Read moreSales associate: Adam Rating: 0 stars Complaint: Rude, disrespectful, arrogant
I have used this company three times in the past personally for a few projects and have directed multiple clients here for kitchen cabinetry. I have been working on a client's master bathroom and was in need of custom cabinetry for their vanity. I called in and Adam had picked up the phone and I expressed what I was doing and what the budget was and if it would be feasible to work within that budget. I had emailed him over the size and "style" we were aiming to achieve. I did not get a response, so I called in.
He picked up the phone and never have I felt I had annoyed someone more than him as if I was wasting his time. I was simply asking what lines he would recommend looking into for more budget friendly options so I can see if something would fit properly for my client. He said diamond vibe. I asked if there was a certain style within diamond vibe that would be more readily available than others? He snarked at me as if this was an outrageous question. The lack of customer service and "sales associate" is appalling. So rude that it brought to write my first ever negative review.
A sales associate is supposed to assist in facilitating selling a product. To sell a product sometimes a consumer has questions. The person's job is to answer the questions, so the consumer feels comfortable with the investment they are making with their money. GOD FORBID, we ask any questions to this gentleman. He made me feel so uncomfortable, he was so disrespectful, and sounded like a pompous jerk that I would be so happy to never have to speak to him again. He said he has been there for 10 years, and I have no idea how that feasibly would be possible unless the company is okay with this type of attitude and disrespect being used towards their customers.
In all honesty, I hope he was having a hard day which is why he was "acting" out and hopefully not his normal character, because no one should ever make anyone feel the way he made me feel from a 5-minute conversation of asking the most basic questions regarding he product he...
Read moreOur experience with Cabinets Direct, and the salesman Frank at the Orange location, was very disappointing. We first met with Frank in late July, but our order wasn't actually placed until late August. When we asked about the delays in getting the cabinets ordered, Franks response was that new customers were coming in and he "couldn't turn down work" - at the expense of existing customers like us. We did not receive the last of our cabinets until mid-November, four months after initial contact. Since replacing cabinets was only one part of our renovation, this had a domino effect that resulted is us living in an unfinished house with no way to prepare food for weeks. Even after the cabinets finally came, there have been issues. Frank ordered the wrong color trim for the top of the cabinets, so it took another two weeks for replacement parts to arrive. Our microwave, which we gave him the dimensions of in advance, didn’t fit in the space provided, so we had to buy a different (smaller and less powerful) one. Finally, our dishwasher hits the handle over our stove when we open it all the way. In the interest of full disclosure, the national customer service reps for Cabinets Direct that we worked with after the order was in were very friendly and helpful during the long process. However, given the very high price-point for these cabinets, being told our order was being delayed so Frank could talk to new customers before finishing our order and thereby delaying our cabinets is unacceptable. Our entire renovation was significantly delayed as a result, and without a functioning kitchen we had no option other than to eat out for every meal, for weeks. We would not recommend this salesman, or company. We don’t expect the royal treatment, but these were expensive cabinets and we at least expected basic competence, and we did...
