I write reviews when I get great service and also when I witness or see things I think the general public would like to know before visiting somewhere. I called and asked if they might have any sports cards or memorabilia/collectibles type stuff. Was told we have a "literal" handful of sports cards. I figured we were in the area, why not check it out. Got there and saw worthless wax junk from 90's, literally a handful, he didn't lie there! I didn't even ask for price, which was not listed anywhere, prices were nonexistent from what I saw on most merchandise. I asked if they had any more and was told no. So I and my adult son who was shopping and my fiancé decided to shop a bit and when I was rifling thru some old postcards in the back corner, I came across 23 older football cards, every one creased, rounded corners, edges terrible, but for me, I like old cards so I thought I was going to be nice and offer a fair price for the lot, that happened to have price tags on them from the 90s (it appeared to me)with prices of $2 each. I offered $25 and was told we don't negotiate prices on any merchandise under $25 an item. I thought I was going to help a local business make a sale but they didn't even come back at me with a counteroffer. I was willing to do $40 of the $54 asking total but was told no negotiating. IN A THRIFT STORE FULL OF GOODWILL ITEMS.... I was very disappointed and as a former smoker, seriously put off by the cigarette smoke smell throughout the building. My fiancé and I both have had 2 people now ask us why we smell like cig smoke since leaving. Just ridiculous. But just a bad attitude and not friendly lady who was in charge. I'm used to friendly and nice; I got that kind of attitude in New York when I was there. not in Lockhart TX. I was hoping to read a bunch of good reviews, and I probably would have chalked today up to someone having a bad day, but it seems upon review of other experiences, this is normal, and I hope the owner reviews these and makes a bit of an effort to at least be friendlier. But at the end of the day, your building is bursting at the very seams with so many items it would take 1000 visits to actually view it all. I would take anyone coming in to buy things as a blessing to your life and business and make that experience as memorable as possible. Make them leave saying WOW! I found some cool stuff AND if was a fair price. You're not on South Congress in Austin. Just very disappointing. Hopefully my long rant expresses my...
Read moreHere it goes! I was super excited as soon as I came in bc it was HUGE and there is a TON of collectibles! So much to go through and check out and if there’s something you know you’re looking for, I’m sure they have it! The front of the shop is owned by the lady who runs it and then there’s also booth renters in the back so there’s a bunch of variety too. The booth renters have price tags so you know what you’re getting and can plan accordingly but the front of the shop isn’t priced out so you have to find the owner and ask about each item, which I didn’t love bc I have a limited budget and I didn’t want to bother anyone everytime I liked something. I was also on a date and didn’t want to spend my time having to flag anyone else down. The owner apparently bakes and will let you have a baked good and coffee while you’re there and I actually really enjoyed the piece of baklava I tried! So for those reasons, I didn’t give a one star. However, I ended up leaving really upset. I like found a brass tray in a booth that was originally marked as $65 but there were signs that said everything in that booth was 70% off and so I did the math and that made it $19.50 before taxes and then I double and triple checked as I have autism, dyslexia and a tbi and am on a limited budget. I was super excited and my date ended up finding a couple of vhs that he was excited about too! When the owner rang up my tray, she said it was $45.50 before taxes? I pointed out that the signs said that booth was 70% off and she agreed and then told me that was the sale price? She said it was 19.50 off of 65, which didn’t add up but I wasn’t trying to be a pain but her math was wrong. she then double checked her math and it was still wrong and she told me I was wrong so I looked at my date and thought maybe I was embarrassing him for attempting to get the correct price and ended up just buying it at the wrong price bc I felt stupid and confused. I tried to make small talk but I was really upset, I felt like I was being taken advantage of and I was embarrassed. After we left, my date informed me that I was correct on my math but that he didnt see the point of making a fuss but a $26 price difference is a lot for someone like me and the more I think about it, the more mad I get. So, lots of treasures to be found there but the prices are random and made up so it’s a coin toss and even though the baklava was tasty, it wasn’t the taste I left with so that’s why I give...
Read moreI always support local, but the owner is nasty, rude, and bitter. We’ve been here many times. We took our friends from seguin here today. My children and I are all avid antiques hunters and thrifters. My 2 children were walking around looking for treasures to take home. They have their own money and they’re also customers. The owner came out and was so rude to both of them telling them they had to stay by my side and didn’t care what I had told them. We left the store, after she told me it’s the rule. Keep in mind there’s no sign saying that. I had to go back and talk to her because I was so sad that someone would be so rude to another person let alone children. I told her my children respect adults and just because they’re 8 and 9 doesn’t mean she can be rude to them. She said it’s a “rule” that children have to be by parents. I asked where the sign is she said it’s just the rule she makes stuff up just like she makes the prices up. I told her she’s in the service industry and you can’t treat you customers like that. She didn’t care. What ever. She’s an old bitter woman who smokes in the shop. Also not to mention nothing in the front of room is priced. She will make up prices by how she feels that day. Y’all just lost...
