My experience with gun stores which are privately owned is arrogance and impatience or someone who is not educated about the products working a big box store. Deaton's appears to be family owner and operated by blood or marriage. The owner is almost always on the floor and I surprised he hasn't thrown me out with all my questions. He has also been a tie breaker on guns. He told me once; "Flip a quarter." I had spend the better part of two days being educated about the guns and the company who makes them. They are not in a hurry to sell guns but are in business to provide a service. My last experience after a purchase and just out of curiosity I check on a price and the gun at another store and was a little cheaper, but I would have spend more in gas to go there. I wanted a different fore arm stock and Deaton's swapped one out without an extra charge. I asked the other store and they said I would have to pay for another one, even through I'm sure they had a box of fore arm stocks as people gave them the original one after purchasing a different one. I'm a retired attorney and didn't have anything tangible to sell except my knowledge so I'm about service and education which is an expense and I'm will to pay extra for that. However, Deaton's prices are the same or lower than most stores where I have shopped. I haven't been disappointed in any purchase I ever made from Deaton's and every with every purchased I have walked out feeling I had made the best deal possible. It's a nice feeling to leave a store and not second guessing...
Read moreOrdered a brand new rifle which arrived damaged and he said it was too small to do anything about, that's right, he admitted there was cosmetic damage to a brand new gun and sat there looked me in the eye and said "What do you want me to do about it" as if it wasn't worth the hassle. I understand it's nothing serious with the gun but when you spend over a thousand dollars on a brand new weapon it shouldn't be acceptable for it to have "some cosmetic damage" as soon as you get it. I'm not one to burn bridges but I had expected better. I now know though so from now on none of my pistol/rifle purchases or even furniture or ammo will be from here and I would suggest others stay away as well. They don't care about their products and more important they don't care about you. Don't believe me? Hey Deaton, you said yourself my brand new rifle had cosmetic damage so make it right, buy it back off of me at price or contact your supplier and make it right. You have my number and my Facebook and if you do I'll gladly update my review. Spoiler alert, he won't though because he simply doesn't care so just keep that in mind when you read all of the replies from his buddies talking about how good this place is. There's a reason there are multiple one stars on here, YellowPages,...
Read moreIf I could put zero stars I would. I went in the gun shop and the man behind the counter was immediately rude, ignoring me while i stood there waiting for him to acknowledge me. When he finally looked at me I told him that I was looking to sell a shotgun and wanted to know if he was interested. I told him the make and model of the gun. He continued to stare at me blankly so I told him it was a Chinese version of the saiga. He seemed to get frustrated and angrily threw his hands up and told me he had no idea what I was talking about so I might as well go grab it. A gun store employee should have better knowledge than the customer. I almost walked out then but I decided to give them one more chance. I brought in my shotgun for him to examine. He barely glanced at it before walking over to his tablet and researching what it was. After five minutes he came back and told me he couldn't do anything for me. I'm fine with not selling my gun but the rudeness and lack of knowledge demonstrated by this place will prevent me from ever doing business with them again. I'll stick with main street and bulls eye. If you want to go to a place and be treated rudely by employees that have no idea what they're talking about...
