!!!THIS HOSPITAL ALMOST KILLED ME DUE TO MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE!!!
Warning this review is detailed. And if you're thinking about going here, you NEED to read this to protect yourself. (Especially any MJ users!) My life was endangered. I was in acute organ failure and they kept sending me home, and misdiagnosing & improperly treating me.
x5 ER trips, and sent home almost immediately after PUKING UP BLOOD After the fifth trip they finally admitted me to the hospital itself, got me scoped. Gave me Halidol and Potassium.
But was my MULTIPLE ORGAN FAILURE diagnosed or treated? No. The hospital staff and EVERY doctor instead told me I was having 'reactions to being a chronic weed smoker'. Repeatedly my health issues were ignored, and I felt deeply shamed by most employees of this hospital for the fact I smoke due to chronic pain and would rather that than a life of opiates. A nurse in the ER literally yelled at me for "seeking pain medicine" - and then gaslit me when I called her out about it in front of another nurse. (I then felt i had to deny my request for pain management and endure it because of this nurse. That is downright evil.) I had a Dr promise me rounds of testing only to discharge me within an hour later with nothing he promised done. I was told "to stop wasting hospital resources and returning" on my 3rd trip to the ER. My IV lines intercepted nonstop and they pumped multiple bags of potassium (which burns btw) under my skin and NOT into a vein. They blew EVERY VEIN IN BOTH MY ARMS. The ER front desk ladies recognized me on sight and were horrified I kept returning in worse conditions each trip. They were horrified nobody had actually helped me. They agreed they couldn't not understand why I was repeatedly being released. And there was nothing they could do to help.
I was discharged from this hospital - even though I had not been able to eat solid food, and not stop vomiting for a week. Hours after being released I went to a different hospital where I was admitted IMMEDIATELY (because of 8+ days of vomiting blood, with 0 solids and barely any liquids. I had lost 10lbs and was half delerious with pain and lack of nutrition.) and stayed a patient for 6 days before everything was put under control, and the my body had a chance to heal, and my body was ready to eat solids without vomiting. I later discovered from the doctors I was in acute multiple organ failure. They literally saved my life, my life which was endangered at this hospital.
This hospital, is a JOKE - and a chop shop. If you want to be stigmatized and shamed, and treated like you aren't worth living then sure go ahead and trounce to this hospital. Or, if you want to actually be medically taken care of, heard, and your medical trauma not worsened, go to UC Health/longs peak hospital. (OH yeah and lemme tell you the staff at UC Health that I interacted with all verified they've only heard horror stories come out of here, nothing good. My story was one of many)
If you smoke weed, don't go here. They will ignore EVERYTHING, including proof of why you are there, to tell you it's due to CHS. They will let you die, because they will die on the hill that you're vomiting because you smoke weed.
To say I am angry is underplaying it. I was left to suffer and effectively starve to death because of this hospital and their "team". I was left to die. There is no apology large enough to make up for what I just had to endure. Because of their failures to do their JOBS, I suffered needlessly. And they are attempting to charge me over $180,000 for not doing anything to help me. Their patient advocates don't do anything. And that "complaint number" they post under any negative reviews goes to voice-mail and nobody actually calls you back. Their excuses for billing the rates they are, are just an absolute joke. They couldn't pay ME enough money in the entire world to ever step foot on their premises again and use their services. This hospital 100%...
Read moreThis is a long one, so.......... I'm not sure what happened to the people with low ratings. We have had great experiences at this hospital. Of course there have been a few times I wasn't 100% happy with the care. But... They have saved my husband's life on three different occasions. The first time he went septic do to a urgent care doctor at The Longmont Clinic misdiagnosing his issue. He wasn't expected to make it. With the excellent care and wonderful doctors my husband made it. They have been there through each of his next episodes. The last time the doctors worked hard to figure his condition out. They discovered it was PE! He had blood clots through out his body!! They didn't stop until they discovered his issues and was able to treat it!! I have had two babies and several procedures there as well as my parents admitted a few times. All were great! Wonderful care and treated with kindness. I did have an unhappy experience way back in 1997 in the ER with my grandson. He was about 2 years old and prone to Febrile Seizures. He was at our house as he wasn't feeling well. My daughter and I rush him to the ER as his temp spiked. We explained his symptoms and was sent to wait in the waiting room. We waited for a couple hours. Other people came in and was seen before us. Also an employees son was brought in with a possible broken leg and immediately taken back. I went over several times to the intake nurse to question the wait. I finally told him my grandson was worse and his eyes were glazing over and if he seizures in waiting room expect a law suit! Again we waited as others ( all were Hispanic as was the intake nurse) were taken back. Finally they took him back, as they got to the room he seizured! My daughter came running out screaming in horror! I did file a complaint and I never saw that intake nurse again. Also wasn't pleased with the care given my Aunt who had West Nile. I found her in a ball on her bed crying in pain. I immediately went looking for her nurse to get help. I let them know that was unacceptable. From that point on she received excellent care. It was partly my Aunts fault for not letting them know how bad she was hurting. I also wasn't happy when my youngest son broke his hand. The care was fantastic, then we checked out. They wanted his bill paid in full. He had no insurance as he was living on his own. Finally settled with a $300 deposit from me. Yet... A Hispanic family when they said they had no money no insurance was allowed to leave without needing any payment. When I asked about it they said there was nothing they could do about it???? But the ER was always patient with our oldest son. He has a mental illness. He would go three to four times a week having all types of phantom illnesses. They always took him serious and was kind and caring with him. They knew him so well that when he had a stress stroke they immediately knew it was serious and took action to protect him. He was put on a 48 hour hold until he was transferred to another facility. The doctors and nurses were heartbroken to see him like that and were so caring to him while he was held there. Is there a hospital that is perfect?? No. Can mistakes and bad situations happen? Absolutely!! But the patients have to take responsibility as well. I've seen some of the abusive behavior by patients when the staff doesn't drop everything and treat them like God. I've seen nurses and doctors treat patients rudely. It happens because we are human. Overall this is a great place to...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at the Birth Center at Centura.
My original plan of a homebirth fell through when my water had been broken too long with no onset of labor. Everyone couldn't have been more kind, and even apologetic that I didn't get my homebirth - I was happy to be where I needed to be, but the empathy they showed was very reassuring, especially when there can be a lot of opinions about homebirth.
The midwife team was great - very open to my birth preferences, and when plans changed they spent the time to fully walk me through what we were doing, I never felt pressured, and felt like I had full autonomy which was very important to me. All three were great (and I would have been more than happy to have any for my delivery) but a special shout out to Kelly for my delivery - it was so so long but she was always so encouraging even when I was feeling like I was at the end of my rope.
The anesthesiologist (her name is completely spacing right now sorry!!) was fantastic. Really listened to me, and slowed down when I asked because I was having trouble focusing. Also - perfect epidural for me considering it wasn't part of my original plan. Could still move my legs and had some feeling (though I could just press the button to feel more numb if I needed to).
When I needed some extra help, we brought in Dr Kim - again, so empathetic and kind. Walked me through my options, and again I felt like I truly had the choice in what we did next. He even popped in the next day to check in and say hi - which was nice because I was pretty out of it after birth, I felt like I didn't truly get to thank anyone.
The baby care team were great. They were gentle, always happy to work with me on preferences (like delayed measurements, and giving baby the vitK shot while doing skin to skin), and were happy to give advice and tips whenever we needed it!
Now I feel like I'm getting to the true stars of the show - my nurses. When my husband and I (and my homebirth midwife who essentially became my doula at the hospital) talk about the hospital, one of the first things we say is that the nurses were AMAZING. I literally do not have a single complaint. They were so onto it, everyone seemed like they were almost excited to be there (some literally said they were). I felt so cared for, never felt like I was asking too much when I requested something, and they honestly just felt like a bunch of close friends. I honestly can't thank them enough. I hope I'm not missing anyone that was part of my care team (again, so out of it most the time) but I want to shout out, in no specific order: Taylor, Sarah, Carol, Tricia, Tiff, and Michelle.
If we have a second, and we choose (or need) to do another hospital birth, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. A part of me would want to go deliver there just to see everyone again haha! I genuinely think that if I went to any other hospital, I would have been pushed for a C-section very early on. But baby was as cool as a cucumber and neither of us were showing any distress, so there was no indication that a C-section was necessary unless any of that changed (which it didn't).
Thank you to everyone that was involved in mine and Isabelle's care. You guys have put together an incredible team here, and made what could have been a traumatic experience into a really positive and dare I say fun memory for my husband and me!
P.S. that take home...
