I received a recommendation to try Wing Shack from a co-worker. I was excited to try something new. But I soon discovered something alarming about the $0.50 wing day. Everyone in my local area also knew about the special day! I placed my order via the Wing Shack app at 4:15pm, the email confirmation told me that my food would be available at 5:24. However, the confirmation inside the app expressed that the food would be done at 6:35pm. 😬
As you may understand, I was a little confused. I attempted to call the restaurant 3 times at 5:35pm. I received 3 busy signals. I thought that was odd. My next course of action was to arrive at the restaurant, and inquire about my order's status. After waiting in line for 15 minutes to speak with the cashier, I learned that my order was not yet ready, and I was told that I will receive a text message when the order is complete, based on how I ordered it.
Granted, at this time, there were about 75 other customers waiting in the restaurant to receive the order they placed.
After another hour, I had not received a text message, so I decided to inquire again. The order was still not ready. It's 6:35pm, which was the time promised based on my app.
During my time sitting at the restaurant, the manager came out to apologize for the long wait time, based on the demand, and gave away restaurant cupcakes for customers to enjoy.
Another hour passes, it's now 7:35pm, at this point I'm sure if you're reading this you would have left 😄 I checked in with the cashier again, and no progress was made on my order, and my name was not called out to receive food.
At this point my wife and I placed an order for more food with another restaurant since I was already out of the house. More time goes by, the clock shows 8:20, I decide to call the restaurant from outside, the call was answered, but the worker helping me could not see why my order in the system. My name showed up in the queue, but it seemed as though my order was given to someone else.
The worker apologized for this, added my order to the top of the list, and finally at 8:50pm, I received my order for wings.
The crowd of people there were kind and polite, but it was obvious to me that many of them were not happy with the speed of service.
My conclusion is that the infrastructure of this business cannot manage such a high demand.
The manager also gave away free beer during the latter portion of the evening to some of the customers that waiting there for more...
Read moreUpdated: I have to say that this particular Wing Shack location has become one of my favorite places to get a treat for myself and friends and has changed my mind on it entirely over time. Any time someone suggests wings, I point them here.
The management and some staff recognize my name and number and make sure to handle my order as I prefer every time without having to leave notes each time. They double check my bag and make sure it isn't tied closed to make it easier for me.
Over dozens of orders made over several years, with hundreds of wings ordered, I cannot remember ever being dissatisfied with a single wing. Always hot, fresh, properly coated, and always as requested. Any issues I've ever experienced, however few, were always fixed quickly and more than fairly compensated every time and were never anything serious or important.
There is a brand new Wing Shack location just minutes from my home, and after giving them a shot after five visits and five disappointments I heard the sirens call to get me back to this location. I've not had the pleasure of trying a different Wing Shack location outside of the new Firestone location which is probably going through growing pains, and this Longmont location, but other locations could probably learn a thing or two about the wing game from this one.
Original: The chicken I got was fantastic crispy and fresh. The sides I had were okay, and sadly missing the strawberry/chocolate sauce of my funnel...
Read moreMy friend and I dropped in an hour before closing this evening. Ariana was our server and she was awesome! I was super apologetic that we were arriving so close to closing time, but she reassured us that we were welcome to stay as long as we needed to finish our meal! We split our bill amongst 2 credit cards which also was no problem for this young lady! Her positive attitude and outgoing personality landed her a well deserved tip, and a donation to a local charity. The wings are the best in Longmont for sure! Chris is a wing master! Wings had the perfect amount of crisp to them to accommodate the flooding of wings sauce that we requested. Their wing sauce has a beautiful balance of peppers and just the right amount of vinegar flavor! It is so close to Willy's Wing sauce which was my all time favorite!! Several other members of the team stopped by and payed us brief visits to ensure that we were satisfied with the quality of our meal. I have lived in Longmont for several years and have always ordered wing shack take out, but the team at the Francis location make you want to dine in! Very hard to find these days, especially in Longmont. The hours of operation are also well above average for little po' dunk Longmont. Ariana, Chris, and the rest of the team at the Longmont Francis location thank you all for another delicious round of wings. We will be seeing you all much...
