Winter Springs Appliance Rpr — Local services in Longwood

My Kenmore refrigerator died on 4/3. When I called Sears, they weren't going to be able to visit until 4/8. Meanwhile all of my meats, cheeses, condiments, etc. would have to survive in 2 big coolers on ice for 5 days. I decided to give Winter Springs Appliance Repair (WSAR) a try because they were a small, local business. I called and they were able to show up the next day, which was great. They should up the next day, on time, and the tech did his thing. When he done, he said that the condenser needed to be replaced. Hard to know if it could have been repaired or had to be replaced. I had myself prepared for the worst. Just like I do with mechanics. He gets done and says it will cost $1,100, which I though was insane because I can buy a new, comparable unit for $1,400-1,500. I didn't dispute paying the $75 trip charge, despite feeling like my $ had been wasted. So I called Sears just to ask what a "condenser kit" would cost, which was $318. They couldn't commit to a definite labor cost before a tech visited, but they said typically around $300. So if I inflate that, Sears would replace they condenser with labor for $700. Where the hell does WSAR justify their additional $400 on their estimate? There seems to be a reason that they could should up in less than 24 hours. It's because they don't have many customers based on these business practices. So I went to Lowe's a bought a brand new refrigerator, which I now love. I called this co I was 59.99 to check my fridge. The tech would call between the 12 & 3 the following day. No call. I had to call. 20 minuets later a tech showed up. He couldn’t speak English or should I say he acted as though he couldn’t He started inspecting disassembling my fridge After some he puts it all back together with parts left over Calls me over points at an estimate I asked for what ?
