I have gone to these guys for two separate repair jobs on the same Mac laptop. The first time, the backlight converter on my laptop went out. I thought the price was fair and the work was done quickly. However, when I got the comp back, the plastic framing around the screen was loose (I can pretty much peel it back all the way to the top now) and the tabs that were supposed to be used to snap it back into place were ripped out, stuck together. I basically have to superglue it down now. Also, the sensor that put my laptop to sleep if I closed it no longer worked.
These were minor things however, they had fixed my machine after all, and I got used to the changes. When I spilled coffee on the laptop, causing some of the keys not to work, I dropped if off over there again for a quote. Later on in the day, I received the call for the price. He asked me if I wanted them to order the part that would fix my machine and then they would fix it. I said yes. He said it would take 6 weeks to get the part so I could pick my computer back up. The next day, I went in to pick it up. I was told, for the first time, that there would be at least a $50 deposit required.
I said, "That wasn't mentioned to me over the phone"
The guy turned to who I had spoken to over the phone and asked, "You didn't tell him about the deposit?"
"Oh, well, he can come back or whatever he wants to do."
Not having fifty bucks to spend, and not being prepared to spend it, I said, "I'll come back with fifty bucks" and walked out. Honestly, if he had told me over the phone that there would be a deposit, I probably wouldn't have said "yes" to ordering the part, knowing that I didn't have the money at the time. Rent was due in a few days and I was strapped.
When I received my next paycheck, about 10 days later, I returned to Los Alamitos Computer Repair to put $50 bucks down and get my machine back. The guy who I had spoken to over the phone said, "Oh, well, since you took so long to come back, we didn't order the part. You know, would could order the part and you never come back and then we're out the money on the part. Also, the part is kinda rare so I'm not sure if it's even still available."
He gave me my laptop back and said he would call me once his technician verified that the part was still available. Then we could order the part and put a deposit down. It has been six weeks and they have never called me. I went somewhere else to repair my machine.
Here's my problem: I brought my machine to you, which I cannot afford to replace, in good faith. When you asked if I wanted you to do the work on my laptop, I said "yes". You didn't mention anything about a deposit, nor that the deposit was required for you guys to even order the part. Apparently, my word, and your word, mean nothing to you because you didn't trust mine and you broke yours. I do not view this as a good way to run a business. I'm sure other people are happy with your work, and have had good experiences, but you lost...

I called several weeks ago for a disturbing noise on my macbook pro 15". They also "repair" Macbook .. they said. The sound came from the left side fan, I directly turned off the macbook and went there because it was couple blocks away. I explain the guys there (who were more than busy .... or not) the problem and asked for a : Replacement of the left Fan. They said they would order the part, after 3 days they called me back and said the Macbook was ready, I got there, and the guy just explained to me that there was dust in the Macbook's Fan and therefore he just took of the dust from the motherboard and Fan: He asked for 100$ in cash ONLY (What a business!!!) just to remove DUST !!! WTF , on which universe those guys are living ? The fan just made noise again after 3 days !! (Dust again ?) I ordered the part myself, took my screwdriver, and changed the fan, for 20$ and guess what no more noizy sound ever since ...

I'm an easy going guy's and gave them every opportunity to fix the problem and all they wanted was for me to pay them for the same repair they did just 42 days earlier.
