I never ordered a custom cake but did my fair share of pre-ordering and same-day purchases of their standard cakes. While the frosting is superior, the cake flavor itself is on par with what you can get at a grocery store bakery— which in my opinion is not bad, just nothing special. I viewed the B+C cakes as a prettier alternative with the potential to elevate any occasion just on their looks alone.

My family always requested the marble, but my personal favorite was the blue velvet. We’ve also ordered the confetti cake and it was also good, just a tad too sweet. But the red velvet was a huge disappointment. It was overly sweet and the cake part tasted like flavorless raw dough (even though it’s thoroughly cooked) with heavy notes of food coloring.

While ordering a marble cake for a friend’s baby shower, I asked if I could just have it plain, without the chocolate drizzle that’s usually around the edge. I wanted to put my own astronaut decorations on the cake. They said there would be a surcharge to not put the chocolate drizzle on. I can’t remember how much, but it wasn’t just a couple dollars… maybe like $10? Seriously?? I didn’t understand the logic since that would have been less time and ingredients spent on my cake. Seemed excessive and kind of petty to me.

The folks working the front counter are not rude, but not friendly either. Others in my family have noted that too. So after the marble cake surcharge incident, I haven’t gone back. Decided to take my business to Katella Deli. They have more cake flavor options and are...

The backbone behind The Great Dane Bakery is an executive team of dynamic women. Their leader, Nataly Young, is a woman with spunk, vision, heart, and muscle. Standing with her are several other great women who bring their A game to this shop every day. Their delicious offerings are a visual feast that combines artistic talent with imagination and pair it up with fantastic flavor profiles. Wedding cakes are over the top and whatever the bride wants she can likely get. Do visit their website to see some of the limitless possibilities. Like their Facebook page and get notices ahead of time, so you don't miss the live demonstrations. Themed based cookies and cupcakes are so much fun and yummy you just may be elected Class Mom of the Year upon delivery of these baked goodies. They have expanded to include three locations, do Wedding Showcases, entertain reality TV offers and still find time to give back to the community...repeatedly. They elevate serving those in need with great heart, dignity, and distinction. So treat yourself or someone you love with a favorite from here, and you will surely be remembered for more than the kind gesture! And you can pay it forward too by donating a purchase to help one of their many causes. Either way, a visit here - your heart, soul, and tummy will be deliciously in sync...

About a year out from our wedding date, my mom came across an Instagram Giveaway hosted by our first choice bakery to make our wedding cake. We were luckily chosen as the winner and even though we were SOOO excited to receive a cake free of charge which was a once in a lifetime opportunity, it made me a little nervous that we may not get the same time and attention a paying customer would have.

… boyyyy was I mistaken. Not only did our cake have our guests asking for the name of the bakery AT THE WEDDING – it was EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL than the cake I had asked them to make. Each tier was more delicious than the one before and some of our guests went back for more pieces throughout the night.

My husband is slightly lactose so their Blue velvet cake (lemon flavor) with Lemon filling was perfect for him to enjoy during our “cutting the cake” moment. We also opted for some hand painted Macaroons for him to get his sweet tooth fix. He loved them so much, we took some with us on our exit from our wedding… Yes… they are that good.

Thank you so much Great Dane Baking Company for making the cake of our dreams (and our guest’s dreams). You will forever be our...
