I never ordered a custom cake but did my fair share of pre-ordering and same-day purchases of their standard cakes. While the frosting is superior, the cake flavor itself is on par with what you can get at a grocery store bakeryâ which in my opinion is not bad, just nothing special. I viewed the B+C cakes as a prettier alternative with the potential to elevate any occasion just on their looks alone.
My family always requested the marble, but my personal favorite was the blue velvet. Weâve also ordered the confetti cake and it was also good, just a tad too sweet. But the red velvet was a huge disappointment. It was overly sweet and the cake part tasted like flavorless raw dough (even though itâs thoroughly cooked) with heavy notes of food coloring.
While ordering a marble cake for a friendâs baby shower, I asked if I could just have it plain, without the chocolate drizzle thatâs usually around the edge. I wanted to put my own astronaut decorations on the cake. They said there would be a surcharge to not put the chocolate drizzle on. I canât remember how much, but it wasnât just a couple dollars⌠maybe like $10? Seriously?? I didnât understand the logic since that would have been less time and ingredients spent on my cake. Seemed excessive and kind of petty to me.
The folks working the front counter are not rude, but not friendly either. Others in my family have noted that too. So after the marble cake surcharge incident, I havenât gone back. Decided to take my business to Katella Deli. They have more cake flavor options and are...

Read moreAbout a year out from our wedding date, my mom came across an Instagram Giveaway hosted by our first choice bakery to make our wedding cake. We were luckily chosen as the winner and even though we were SOOO excited to receive a cake free of charge which was a once in a lifetime opportunity, it made me a little nervous that we may not get the same time and attention a paying customer would have.
⌠boyyyy was I mistaken. Not only did our cake have our guests asking for the name of the bakery AT THE WEDDING â it was EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL than the cake I had asked them to make. Each tier was more delicious than the one before and some of our guests went back for more pieces throughout the night.
My husband is slightly lactose so their Blue velvet cake (lemon flavor) with Lemon filling was perfect for him to enjoy during our âcutting the cakeâ moment. We also opted for some hand painted Macaroons for him to get his sweet tooth fix. He loved them so much, we took some with us on our exit from our wedding⌠Yes⌠they are that good.
Thank you so much Great Dane Baking Company for making the cake of our dreams (and our guestâs dreams). You will forever be our...
