I was following the hype y'all!
Originally gave Chambers five stars the day I brought my purse in to have the shoulder strap replaced. It was suggested for my purse to be conditioned as well, but certain distressed areas on the purse would still remain. To that, I said, "I only want the handle replaced, however, you can do the outside conditioning too."
One month and a half & $30 later (which I thought was pretty inexpensive and I now I know why) my purse was returned to me in the same condition given.
My first pickup attempt, they couldn't find it and when they finally did, nothing was done to it. Three and a half weeks into my journey and literally, the purse had been in the back, chilling.
They apologized and said "Okay, come back in three and a half more weeks - I'll even call you when it's ready. It will be taken care of." He verified with me what needed to be done. I told them my only concern was for the shoulder strap to be replaced and that the other person who assisted me suggested that I should get it conditioned too. When the assisting staff checked the price I was charged, they said, "You we're not charged for the replacement of the shoulder strap and not charged for the conditioning - you were charged for a purse wash. It's ok ma'am, I'll adjust the order and credit you an extra $10 towards what needs to be done." He started to tell me again that certain distress parts would remain the same. I let him know that I did know this and that my only concern really was to have the shoulder strap completely replaced.
I went to pick up my purse today (7 weeks later and my 2nd pickup). This is what they gave back to me. Nothing...
Read moreUpdating again June 2025: For the three plus years I've been bringing my shoes to these folks, the exact same person has attended to me at the counter every single time, and more than once he has told me how to save money (ie by buying a sole at Target for example), essentially turning away my business to save me money.
Recently, I brought a pair of boots that were in super rough shape, and after dropping them off with Chambers on Slauson, they practically look like new.
The way to keep these neighborly local businesses around is to support them. These guys are trustworthy, neighborly, and do amazing work. I hope we all keep them in business!
Earlier review* Really friendly people, and they do good work. I have brought four pairs of shoes / boots here so far, to great results. I love supporting this local business. (Def look out for their limited hours before going! They've been slowly reopening due to...
Read moreChambers should be considered a historic place in LA. They once were located on Central Ave and moved to what is considered the Westside of LA. The older staff are probably no longer with us, however the quality of services are the same. My hubby does not understand why they can't offer same day service for repairing leather goods. However there are people that come from out of town to have their shoes shined there (sometimes you can get same day service for shoe shines) Chambers are known for the old fashioned shoe shine and they are still offering the same service today. The employees are friendly and helpful. They are located on a very busy fast moving street, there is some street parking available during certain times of day. All and all I would continue to recommend Chambers Shine...
