I heard about this place and wanted to try it out myself. It’s only a 15 minute drive from my home. It’s located inside a very large market with all kinds of exciting products. The butcher has so many types of links and sausages. They have cooked meats as well as uncooked. I ordered 3 different lunches with 3 different sides so that I can taste a lot of different things. The fried red snapper was well seasoned and perfectly fried and I mixed the hot sauce with the tartar sauce to supercharge the taste. The green beans were very tasty and not cooked into mush. When food is this good I like to eat it with my hands. I only used the fork to mix the tartar sauce with the hot sauce. While my order was being prepared I walked around the store. They have dozens of hot sauces, canned and dried seasonings for jambalaya, gumbo, ettoufe and even chili. Different types for seafood or chicken and sausage or shrimp and crawfish. I’ve never seen so many choices. My food was ready in a little over 20 minutes. I haven’t tried everything yet but got beef hot links with red beans and fried chicken with collard greens. Each order comes with cornbread. I will be back to try the lamb chops and the oxtails plus the turkey chops. Maybe I’ll load up at the butcher too. There is a huge parking lot and they keep the store very clean and organized. The ladies at the food counter are very friendly and work very hard. It makes me feel good to support a...
Read morePhoned my order in, I didn't expect anyone to answer. But when they did it was a readied professional. My order was taken, and repeated.
Drive up ok plenty parking, familiar area. I was a bit worried, this establishment did not smell of any soul cooking, or grannies at Thanksgiving dinner.
First plate was oxtails, .as friendly. I heard the women who took my order who told me a few more moments. The decor was nice and spacious. I felt the interior was extremely clean, and neat, nothing out of place, I could not see any red flag, aside from missing the aroma of southern comfort food...
Plates were ready and heavy enough to not suspect anything unusual.
Got to my destination ready to feast, and to my dismay I was missing some items. However, the food was so delicious, and I was more than full. Plenty of left overs.
My favorite being the fried snapper, which I didn't expect fried, greens, yams, mac and cheese, all the way down to the cornbread muffin.
I did make a call to back regarding my missed items. Of course after I ate to my satisfaction. I was extremely impressed with their courtesy, professionalism and customer first mentality. Secondly, the lady did exactly what she said; "I will call you in a bit to confirm, she did just that twice though, I missed the calls.
Very pleased and will return again to try some other items and of course...
Read moreIm gonna give a bit of a detailed review. Because with a few tweaks this place could be 1000x better. I had fried chicken/smother chicken/greens/yams/mac n cheese /rice and gravy
Every thing was very good. My following critiques are me being extremely critical. Overall this is a very good place to order soul food from. Im a repeat customer for sure.
The overall flavor of everything is really good. The only issue I had was with the salt levels and textures. BUT ESPECIALLY THE AMOUNT OF SALT ON THE FRIED CHICKEN. I would have enjoyed it alot more if the Salt levels came down about 15-20%. Mac and cheese was good flavor wise, just a bit too rich and gummy and salty. Could be just me though I not the biggest fan of Mac and cheese thats done with a roux first and then baked also. It produces a very dense rich texture. Also I think the chicken pieces are too big. I got a breast and wing and the breast was half the size of the entire container. Usually chickens that big are overly fed, and given hormones and injected with other drugs. Also pieces that big take longer to fry, which makes the batter fry harder and darker. If I were this resturant I would honestly invest in smaller organic 3-4lb chickens.
Other than that I really enjoyed the flavor, especially the yams and...
