Dr. Schlifer noticed I was wearing an N95 mask. He proceeded to state that masks "don't work" to prevent the spread of Covid. I was shocked to hear such a completely unfounded, unscientific, ridiculously irresponsible statement from a "doctor". It is extremely irresponsible to say that as a doctor to people, especially when legitimate scientific journals state the exact opposite. I don't know if this is just his opinion or where he's getting his "science", but it's completely unfounded and wrong. There is zero debate to be had on such a well studied and researched topic. Don't spread scientifically false information, even if you're deluded enough to believe it. Assuming you know better than the CDC, the Chief Medical Advisor of the country, and countless other medical and scientific experts in infectious disease (when you specialize in weight loss and selling soccer moms anti-aging cream and went to a no-name, unranked "medical school" in Arizona) is so ignorant, arrogant, oblivious, and negligent. Go to a different doctor if you want a doctor that actually knows science and medicine. If you're fine with non-researched and non-proven science and medicine, go to Dr. Schlifer. What a quack!
Additionally, I had scheduled my appointment with the receptionist over the phone to see Dr. Schlifer. When I was called in to the back at my appointment, I was seen by their nurse practitioner. Don’t schedule your patients with Dr. Schlifer and then have them see someone totally different without telling them at the time of scheduling who they’re going to be seeing. I’m fine seeing an NP, but that’s not who I was told I was scheduled to see. Finally, when the NP saw the name of my other doctor on a test request, her response was, “How in the world do you pronounce THAT name?!” My other doctor has an African name. It’s fine to ask how to pronounce someone’s name, but do so in a respectful and professional manner. Don’t be so culturally unaware and shocked by a non-American name. There are indeed other cultures and names out there that you haven’t seen before. It shouldn’t be...
Read moreI chose this doctor from the Aetna app due to it showing he was in network for me. Instead of seeing the doctor I was shown to a nurse practitioner, who was very thorough and thoughtful, and generally gave me good care.
However, months later I started being hounded for hundreds of dollars in bills, being told that my care wasn't covered. Then I was told it was a billing issue with Aetna and it should be covered but hat they had to "work things out". For months I called the office, only to be told "we're working on it".
Then, months of radio silence later I received an angry bill demanding immediate payment for my extremely overdue bill. The office could not explain this other than to say "there's someone new here" and "we'll call you back about it in two weeks".
The final straw is that they will not refill a fairly benign prescription that I have been on for years, without another office visit that they can't tell me will be covered or not.
I believe there are good medical professionals here trying to keep people healthy. But the business practices here are TERRIBLE, and the customer service is non-existent. 0/10 do not recommend unless you like being gaslit...
